unless regulatory or other subsystem requirements dictate otherwise in which case they should be the maximum allowed luminance. この文章の otherwise in which case ～の訳し方がよくわかりません。 私の訳：それらが最大許容輝度であるということが特に規定や他のサブシステムの要求事項に記述されていない限り、 と訳したのですが、あっているのかわかりません。わかる方がいらしたら教えてください。

前後がないのでやや不明確ですが、すなおに考えるなら unless regulatory or other subsystem requirements dictate otherwise 規定や他のサブシステムの要求事項に別途に記述がない限り in which case they should be the maximum allowed luminance. その場合はそれらが最大許容輝度である。 ということでしょうね。「その場合」とは「別途に記述がある場合」ということだと思いますが、ちょっと自信なし。

otherwise の前にカンマなしですかね、行替えとかも。 Ａ unless Ｂ, otherwise Ｃ. というように独立していると思いますがどうでしょう。「Ｂでない限りは、あるいはＣである場合は、Ａ」 「規定や他のサブシステムの要求事項に記述されていない限り、あるいはそれらが最大許容輝度である（べきである）という場合には、」

原文：－－－ ”Unless the first bullet hit him,in which case it could take him longer.” ある人の訳文：－－－ 「 ただし、最初の一発が当たっていればもっと時間がかかる筈だ」 お聞きしたいこと：－－－ unless the first bullet hit him が上記のように訳されるのが理解できないのです。 と言いますのは、unlessはif not,except whenの意であると辞書にあります。例文でも、Unless it rains,he will come. 雨が降らない限り云々とあります。 ですから私の理解では、「最初の一発が当たっていなければ」となり、訳文とまったく反対になります。 前後の文脈から見ますと、訳者の訳文のほうが筋が通るのです。 unlessの理解に私の誤解があるのか、その辺に関して教えてください。
