なぜこの訳になるのですか？
こんばんは。いつもお世話になっています。 先ほど、アメリカのアニメを観ていたら、ここはなぜこの訳になるのだろうか？という部分がありました。 A: Wow, we've got $500!! B: Hey, how wonderful! Our first plesant surprise. C: It's not the money as much as the feeling that we earned it. （英語字幕では、It's not the money. It's the feeling that we earned it.となっています） わからない部分はCの台詞です。日本語字幕では「いい気分よね」としかなっていません。なぜこういった訳になるのでしょうか？できれば文法的解釈も交えて教えていただけたら幸いです。 ご回答はお時間がある時で結構です。よろしくお願いします。

私も下の方と同じ意見なのですが、なかり前に、字幕を作っている人を特集したドキュメンタリーを見たことがあります。人は、パッと一画面で読める文字数と言うのが決まっているんだそうです。なので直訳するのではなく、会話の意味が損なわれない程度に、その文字数に収めていると言っていました。なので、映画を見ていて、文意だけ似ていて、英語と言っていることはかなり違う訳も結構ありますよね。
映画の字幕は学校文法の役には立ちませんが、非常に名訳が（日本語として）多いですよ。 このセリフの訳はNo.１さんの通りだと思います。 「金額じゃないよ。この稼いだという気分だよ」などと 字幕を書いていると（読んでいると）場面が変わってしまって誰の発言が分からなくなるからでしょう。字幕は 一行ｘｘ文字までという制約と、会話がポンポンと弾むときなどでは時間との勝負になり、このような意味を 汲んだ名訳が必要になってきます。

英語の字幕は「金の問題じゃないよね。稼いだ時の気持ち(感触)の問題だよね。」位の意味でしょう。したがって、文脈によりますが、「いい気分よね。」と圧縮しても、適合すると思います。というより、名訳の部類ではないでしょうか。 It's not the money as much as the feeling that we earned it. これも用法的には正しいと思います。 文法的にはうまく説明できませんが、(教師ではありませんので)両方とも意味はパラレルと思います。
