英文の構文
Nor will a contestant know whether failure to receive a proxy from a particular shareholder means that the shareholder has voted against the contestant, or has simply abstained. 上記英文の構文が採れません。どなたかご教示ください。

文法の段階から？です。 コンマの位置もなぜこのように区切られているのかが分かりません。 I was looking at Daruma ,wondering if ultimately, it's simply whether a thing is talked about that makes the difference, and pondering ho those kind of booms are artifically creatd. （和文）結局、違いは世間で話題になっているかどうかだけなのか、ブームって作られるのねって考えながら達麻さんを見ていたんです。 なぜこのような和訳になるのか解説して頂きたいです。 以前も一度質問させていただいたのですが、よくわからず…。 wondering if ultimately, it's simply whether の部分です。 it's simply(that)whetherが強調構文なのは分かったのですが、 その手前に if ultimately が入るのが気持ち悪いです。 また、wondering it's simply(that)whether,,, とwondering がif whether にかけられていると 考えているのですが、そもそもそこから間違いでしょうか？

強調構文の考え方です。It is～thatと言う文章でこれらを省略しても文章が成り立っているのなら強調構文である。と書いてありました。 It is a fact that he wants to know.→a fact he wants to know→He wants to know a fact.となり、たとえば、It is a fact that he has won the game.は同じようにやるとa factの役割が不明になり、前とは違って成り立たない。よってこれは強調構文ではない。ここまでは理解できます。 しかしこの考え方が次の文章では分かりません。この文章ではどうやって上のような考え方を当てはめればいいのでしょうか。 It is not the fact virtue wins out at the end which promotes morality ,but that the hero is the most attractive to the child,who identifies with the hero in all his struggles. よろしくお願いします。

論文を書いていて困ってます。 The author does not know whether or not ＋「長い文」. の形の文章は The author does not know whether or not 文Ａ and whether or not 文Ｂ． などのように分割したほうが良いのでしょうか？ 例 筆者は彼が金持ちなのか、飛行機を持っているのか知らない。 The authour does not know whether or not he is rich and has an airplane. 修正例 The authour does not know whether or not he is rich and whether or not he has an airplane. そもそも例として挙げた文章は英訳が間違ってるんでしょうか？ 論文として書いているので、できるだけ細かいことまで教えていただけるとありがたいです。修正例の、「and」の前にはコンマを入れた方がよいのでしょうか？ なお、僕は理系です。また、実際の「長い文」には例よりもずっと長い学術的文章が入ります。

1 Our friend was puzzeled. 2 He approached the man and said, "I was wonderingg what you are doing." 3 "I'm throwing these starfish back into the ocean. 4 You see, it's low tide right now and all of these starfish have seen washed up on the shore. 5 If I don't know them back into the sea, they'll die up here from lack of oxygen." 6 "I understand," my friend replied, "but there must be thousands of starfish on this beach. 7 You can't possibly get to all of them. 8 There are simply too many. 9 And don't you realize this is probably happening on hundreds of beaches all up and down this coast. 10 Can't you see that can't possibly make a difference?" 11 The local native smiled, bent down and picked up yet another starfish, and as he threw it back into the sea, he replied, "Made a difference to that one!" 長文で申し訳ございません・・・。 これの内容を教えて欲しいのですが、 the man＝starfishを投げている our friend＝疑問を持って聞く それに対する答えが7行目以降だと思うのですが、 その行以降から何を言っているのか分からなくなりました。 7行目は「貴方はstarfishをget toすることが恐らく出来ない」とあるのですが、『get to＝arrive』ですよね？ "bu there must be・・・"の会話文はthe manの会話として取っています。 すると、Youはour friendということになって、益々意味が分かりません。 どういう意味になっているんでしょうか？ 9行目は、構文が取れていません。 this is probably happening ＜on hundreds of beaches＞ ＜all up and down＞ ＜this coast＞. happenは自動詞なので、それ以降の句が＜副詞節＞として見えてしまいます。 そうすると、場所を表す節が2つも出てしまい、意味がとれなくなりました。 『happen on：偶然出くわす』と熟語にとってみても、意味がとれません。 どうすれば良いのでしょうか？ 10行目、11行目の『make a difference』が分かりません。 何が重要である.と言っているのですか？ また、11行目のto that oneは、何を指しているのですか？ 乱文で、長くてすいません・・・。 考えても分かりませんでした。 もし良ければ、教えて頂きたいです。 よろしくおねがいします。

今年受験生で、今 京都大学の過去問を解いていたのですが、英文の全訳が載っていないので、教えてください。 But this by no means implies that there has simply to be a conflict of prejudices and biases, as the data are manipulated to suit one important factor. という文です。 前半のthereの訳し方がわからないのですが、訳は しかし、これは、単に偏見と先入観の闘争でなければならないことを意味するわけではない。 であってますか？ 後半はasをどの意味でとればいいのかわかりません。 あと、 When dealing with history, especially the sort of history that is most significance in philosophy, that shaping is bound to be relevant. という文でthat以下がどの語を修飾しているのか、教えてほしいです。
