科学論文の謝辞に訳せない文があります
科学論文の謝辞に以下の文章がありました。どういう意味でしょうか？ Posthumous thanks are due Taro Yamada for help with the experiments. 謝辞なので、著者がおそらく「ヤマダタロウ」の実験の手伝い(for help with experiments)に対して感謝を述べているのだと予想が付くのですが、"thanks are due"というフレーズの文法が良く分かりません。また"Posthumous"は辞書を引くと「死後の」と出てくるのですが、普段使わない単語なのでどういったニュアンスなのか分かりません。 翻訳と文法の解説をお願いします。 ヤマダタロウさんは亡くなってしまったのでしょうか？

”多くの実験のお手伝いを頂いた山田太郎氏に感謝の印を送ります。”ぐらいの感じです。直訳なら（死後となってしまった）感謝は多くの実験のお手伝いを頂いた山田太郎氏の為にある。でしょうか。 謝辞で相手が物故者になってしまったケースで使われる表現のようです。

ありがとうございます。 文法の解説が分かりやすかったです。 私はPosthumous thanksという見慣れないフレーズにとらわれすぎたせいでdueが上手く訳せていなかった様です。
