省略されているのは、what でも that that でもないです。 あまりに文法知らずが多すぎます。 省略されているのは主格の that か which の一つです。 that that なんて説明、見る気もしない。

一昨日(10/10)、昨日（10/11）のNHKラジオの『ビジネス英会話』の書き取りをしました。 番組の最初に一週間のヴィニエットを全て聞いた後に続く“Ｗｏｒｄ Ｗａｔｃｈｉｎｇ” というパートの比較的最初の部分で、アメリカ人のアシスタントが“just around the corner”という成句について解説をした後、次のようにコメントが続きます。 There's a similar phrase, "in the offing." But that tends to mean visible, and has very strong visible meaning. "Offing" is the part of the ocean between where ships dock and the farthest point you can see from land. When if you want to know word or grammar etc,please tell me. I look a word up and teach you. Do you know Hiragana? と送ったところ As for words, how would I say something is tough or difficult? and the only Hirigana I can think of is writing yes? or am i wrong on that? と返信がきました。 なんとなく、この言葉はなんて言うかと聞いてると思うのですがよくわかりません。 教えていただけると助かります。

確かにthatの省略については私の誤解でした。 これは挿入だったんですね。ありがとうございます でも連鎖関係副詞の言語学的な由来は、 それこそ見る気もしないです。 某サイトで連鎖関係副詞の説明を読んだのですが、 パズルみたいに英語をこねくり回して、言葉に対する冒涜の様に感じました。 日本の悪しき英語教育の親玉みたいなものでしたね。
