wouldについて
City boys like me all wanted to be measured like this. 都会の子供はみんな、こんな背比べの傷にあこがれたものさ。 この和訳だとwantedの前にwouldを入れてもいいのかな？と思うんですが、どうでしょう？ 宜しくお願いします。

→たしかにwouldを使うことで、願望なり、欲求なりを表すことができます。しかし、wantと一緒に使うのは相性が悪いと言えます。 City boys like me all would like to be measured like this. なら、いいと思います。あるいは City boys like me all wanted to be measured like this. です。would like to があまりにも丁寧なので少年たちにはそぐわず、ここは元の文が一番いいと思います。また、wouldだけを入れるとwantedの過去形がまずいので、とうぜん、wouldのあとは原形となります。 １．They will want to have the idea. ２．They want to have the idea. １は、未来において欲しがっているーーといういささか妙な文になります。 そのアイデアを欲しがっているというのなら、２の言い方か、あるいは They would like to have the idea.と丁寧に言うかでしょう。 以上、ご参考になればと思います。

This morning my work email brought a message from a woman I haven’t seen in more than five years. We worked together (different departments, same university) in early 2011. At first I thought the email was a mistake—meant for someone else with my name—because I didn’t recognize the sender’s name. But then I remembered her. よろしくお願いします。 共通テストにあったセンテンスです。 「You are going to give a talk on a person you would like to have interviewed if they were still alive.」 仮定法も意味も理解できますが、 「would like to have p.p.」がまったく不慣れで焦ってます。 質問1：この使い方は適していますか？ 「もし目がもっと良ければ、パイロットになりたかったのに・・・」 If I had better eyesight, I would like to have become a pilot. 質問2：こう書いたら変ですか？ If I had better eyesight, I would have wanted to be a pilot. 違いもわかりません。 教えてください。 よろしくお願いします。
