It was said that they were engaged in August. の書き換えなんですが、 They were said to (have) engaged in August. ＜彼らは８月に婚約したと言われていた＞ だと思いました。 が、正解は They were said to (be) engaged in August. でした。 私はこれだと＜彼らは８月に婚約すると言われていた＞ になってしまうと思ったので、haveを使って完了形不定詞 にしようと思ったのですが、違うのでしょうか。 教えてください。

ラグビーチケット購入サイトで見た英文です。 We offer fans the chance to purchase tickets to sold out events in a safe and secure environment . -purchase tickets to sold out events... この箇所が文法的に理解できません。どなたかご説明頂けないでしょうか？ toの後ろにbeやhaveが省略されているのでしょうか？ もしくは不定詞ではなく、前置詞でしょうか？ その場合、このtoはどういう意味でしょうか？ よろしくお願いします。

to be continued, to be announced, will be informed, to be said, 等などですが、どうして過去形なのですか？教えて下さい。will continue, will announce, will inform, will say等では駄目なのですか？宜しくお願いします。

こんにちは。お世話になります。 英語初学者です。 英文を読んでいたら、 ‟We must get out,” said the Professor. ‟Full speed ahead.” ‟Oh no! We aren't going to make it,” said Wilma. という描写が有り、上段３番目の英文の意味がいまいちよく分りません。 なぜ、be going toを使うのでしょうか？canではいけないのでしょうか？ もし、canでもいいとしたら、be going toを使う意味は何なのでしょうか？ ニュアンスはどう異なってくるのでしょうか？ 色々と自分なりに考えてみたのですが、さっぱり意味がつかめません。 どなたか、教えては下さいませんでしょうか？ 宜しくお願いいたします。
