英文(一文)の意味を教えてください。
お世話になります。よろしくお願いします。 訳が分からないのは次の一文です。 Maybe there is a touch of humility or submission to "I get it" that is not quite there in "I got it." http://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=504206 「13th May 2007, 9:07 AM」の coiffeさんの回答部分です。 後半の「there in」辺りの意味が分かるように訳して頂けると助かります。 よろしくお願い致します。

there はあまり意味をなしていないというか、慣用的に(ある意味強調的に)入れただけです Maybe there is a touch of humility or submission to "I get it" that is not quite (there) in "I got it." 訳: "I get it"には、"I got it"にはない謙虚な感じや従順な感じの意味が含まれている thereが指してるのは"I got it"ですが、なくてもほとんど何も変わらないです 口グセかもしれません ま、thereと言うことで、「あっち」という意識を入れて、"I get it"というのとは違うんだとしたい気持ちなのかもしれません I am having a wonderful time here in Japan. これと同じような使い方(hereは意味的にあまり必要ない ま、話者が"日本にいる"んだということは強調されるわけですが) 理屈としては、am havingと言っているから、日本にいることは間違いないわけです(だからhereを入れる意味はあまりない)

>「"I get it"に対して謙遜する、服従する」??となってしまいました。ここからの意訳ということでしょうか。 いえ、私の訳はほとんど直訳に近いです たぶんtoにひっかかってるのでは 例文をさがしたんですがいいのがなかったので、言葉だけで 私の感覚だと、a touchだからto "I get it"なんですよ(humility or submission だからtoなのではなくて) touchというのは意味としては、単に触れるという感覚だけでなく、何かを"加える"ニュアンスがあるので、「"I get it"を使う人は、そういうタッチを言葉に入れている(含めている)」という感覚です ※「含まれている」と訳したところは意訳かもしれません そして、そういうものは(全体として)not quite there [in] "I got it"です(ここはtoではないです touchのことではなく、「そういうこと」のような前段の意味を全て含めたような言い方だから) ところで、「服従」という訳は強すぎます submissionは"the act of accepting"ということ だから、"ああ、そうですね(では私のではなく、あなたのやり方で) そうしましょう"みたいな感覚です だから私は「従順」としました(humilityの意味ともつり合いますし)

Maybe おそらく there is a touch of humility or submission to "I get it" 「 I get it.」 と言う言葉には 謙遜または屈服の感触がある that is not quite there in "I got it." 「 I got it.」 と言う言葉にはそれほど多く存在しない感触だ。 補足 後半の "there" は場所を示す副詞（そこに）です。 その直後の in "I got it." も場所を示す副詞句です。 there を 具体的に言い換えたのが in "I got it." で 同格表現と呼びます。

ご回答どうもありがとうございます。 thereは唐突に感じましたが、文法的には同格なのですね。 「humility or submission to "I get it" 」 「"I get it" に対して謙遜、屈服する」 ⇒「"I get it" を謙遜・屈服の気持ちで使う」 みたいに意訳するのでしょうか。 ここがまずむずかしかったです ここが上手く訳せないと先も続きませんね。 どうもありがとうございました。

こんにちは。お世話になります。 英語初学者です。 英文を読んでいたら、 ‟This is fun, ”shouted nadim. ‟It is if you don't shout, ”said Mrs May. という英文が有り、 そのあと、ページを進めていくと ‟I hope the rain stops, ”said Mrs May. という描写が有りました。 なぜ、‟It is if you don't shout, ”のときも‟I hope the rain stops, ”のときも、 if やhopeの後の動詞の前にwill が付かないのでしょうか？ hopeの後ろにはwillが付くことが有る、と聞いたことが有りますが、 この場合、ある場合とない場合とではニュアンスが変わってくるのでしょうか？ どなたか、教えては下さいませんでしょうか？ 宜しくお願いいたします。
