英文の構造を教えてください！
Seeing Eye dogs are not only canines whose role involves being more than a loyal companion and a watchdog. 訳：盲導犬は、忠実な付き人や番犬以上の役割を伴っている（持っている）、唯一の犬科動物ではない。 質問は２つです。 (1)訳は、こんな感じでよろしいでしょうか？ (2)involvesの後ろにある、「being」は、文法上どのような働きをしているのですか？ よろしくお願いします。

(1)訳は、こんな感じでよろしいでしょうか？ 盲導犬は、その役割が、忠実な仲間とか番犬以上のものであるということに関係している犬というだけではない。ーーという意味です。「唯一の」というところがよくありません。not only . . . but also . . .のbut alsoがない文で、言外に、別の役割がある、こういう役割も確かにあるが、もっと違う面があるーーと言っています。 (2)involvesの後ろにある、「being」は、文法上どのような働きをしているのですか？ これは、動名詞で、canines=dogsと単純化し、more thanも取って意味を考えれば、 The role of the dogs involves being a loyal companion and watchdog. その犬の役割は、忠実な犬であり番犬であることに関係しているーーとなり、being は動名詞で～であることーーという意味がわかると思います。 以上、ご参考になればと思います。

盲導犬は、その役割が忠実な付き人や番犬であることを伴う犬科動物というだけではない。 involve は「～を伴う」ですが、「～することを伴うとしたい場合、 動名詞 ing 形になります。 be 動詞も動詞に違いなく（日本語ではどうと感じられないだけ） 「～であること」の意味になります。 they are more than ～という文をイメージして 主語を無視して名詞化すると、 being more than ～ となります。 not only はちょっと違うと思います。

1. 申し分のないものだと思います。 2. 動名詞というやつだと思います。involve は他動詞として目的語を取り、目的語は名詞ですから、「・・・ であること」 という意味を表すのに be を being と変えて名詞化していると見えます。

こんにちは。 あるテキストに Imagine going into your neighborhood bookstore, choosing from a list of millions of titles and watching your selection being printed before your eyes. という文があったのですが、 この " being printed " のところが どうしてこの書き方になるのか分かりません。 ちなみにテキストでの訳は、 "近所の本屋でたくさんのリストからタイトルを選び 目の前で選んだ物がプリントされることを想像してみよう" 全体の話は、 "実際の本を手にする人より、インターネットの本(文章)を 閲覧したりプリントアウトする人が増えている" というもので、上記の文章は冒頭の部分です。

以下の英文の翻訳お願いできませんか？ (1)I had a sister who had diabetes. She died when she was 39. If she had lived a century ago, she would have been dead by the age of 14. Had she been born today, she probably would have lived a full life because gene therapy would soon be able to replace her defective genes. My parents told me Andrea had diabetes when I was a high school student in California. And later, I learned Andrea would have the disease forever and world be taking shots every day of her life so she could live. I knew it was serious. Without insulin, Andrea's cells would die even though she had plenty of sugar in her blood. Each day she would measure her sugar level and then inject insulin into her thigh. (2)Time passed, and I went to Colorado College. Andrea went to the University of Southern California. I think that USC was a good choice for her. She went to classes, parties, and maintained her California blonde good looks. She graduated, married a lawyer-to- be, adopted a child because of repeated miscarriages due to her diabetes, and got divorced--- a typical American story except for the diabetes. (3)Andrea died on the operating table at the age of 39. It was cardiac arrest, not an uncommon fate for diabetics whose cardiovascular systems were compromised. 下記英文の構造です。 How long does it take to get there? （そこへはどのくらい時間がかかるのですか） (1)主語はit＝to get thereでよいのでしょうか。 (2)takeは述語動詞で他動詞でよいのでしょうか。 (3)takeが述語動詞で他動詞だとすると目的語が無くても 英文としては特に問題がないのか疑問に感じています。 他動詞には必ず目的語が必要との思い込みがあるので、 他動詞の使い方について解説してください。 (4)how longは副詞でよいのでしょうか。 宜しくお願いします。

The child will keep even his most ordinary thought and feelings to himself , and will turn to other people ―not necessarily the best ones―to whom to give his confidence. という文章で、to whom to give his confidence の構造がよくわからないです。 最初のtoは、turn toのtoというこでしょうか？ 解説だとこの一文が、to whom he can give his confidence. となっているのですが、これは、he can を省略したということなのでしょうか？ では何故to give というふうにgive にtoがつくのでしょうか？ 解説お願いします。
