仮定法ということですから、「お父さんは、お金があまりない」というのが事実ということになりますね。つまり、 My father does not have enough money to buy a Mercedes. あるいは、 As my father does not have much moeny, he can not buy a Mercedes. ということになります。現在の事実は、動詞あるいは助動詞の現在形を使います。 現在の事実の逆を仮定するには、仮定法過去形（単に、動詞あるいは助動詞を過去形にすればいい）を使いますから、 「もし父がもっとお金を持っていれば（いたら）、メルセデス車を買うだろう。」は、 If my father ( had ) more money, he ( would ) buy a Mercedes. というように、機械的に過去形を使えばいいですよ。

No.1さん、No.2さんと同じ意見です。 補足しますと、基本となる条件文では以下のとおりです。 If my father has more money, he will buy a Mercedes. これを仮定法過去（実際にはもっとお金がない）にすると、 If my father had more money, he would buy a Mercedes. となります。この問題の正解はどうなっているのでしょうか。

With a little more study, he could have passed the exam. を書き換えると、If he had studied a little harder, ... と正解にありました。なるほど。それもいいでしょうが、 If he had studied a little more ではまずいのでしょうか。 ニュアンスがよくないのでしょうかね。 逆に With a little harder study ではおかしいのでしょうか（言わないような気はしますが）。 文法的にはどれもよさそうですが・・・。 よろしくお願いします。
