haveについて
haveは、状態を表す時は、現在進行形にしないと習いましたが、もし、例えば、カメラなどを今、右手に持って(写真を撮って) いる人がいたとしたら、「A man (woman) is having a camera in his right hand and～」と、現在進行形で表現するのでしょうか？

having を(現在)進行形で使うのは、「食べる」「飲む」の意味で、eat, drink の代わりに使う場合と、have a good time のような「経験する」の意味で使われる場合に限られます。 「手に持つ」「所有する」の意味では進行形にはしませんので、そのように覚えるのがいいと思います。

そうです。 たとえば he has a camera っていうと彼はカメラを持ってるってなるけど今そのとき手に持ってるっていいたいならそれで大丈夫だよ！

「私は今、手紙を持っています。」を英語で言うと、 I have a letter now. でいいかと思います。 I am having a letter now.にはなりませんよね。 haveは「持っている」という意味で使う場合は、現在進行形にはならないと聞いたことがあります。 では、「手紙を持っている犬を知っています」という時には、現在分詞の後置修飾を使って、 I know a dog having a letter. と、haveの現在分詞havingを使って表現することはできるのでしょうか。 現在進行形ではhavingは使えないのに、後置修飾の時には使えるのでしょうか？教えてください。

「and」を使えば複数扱いだと習ってきたのですが、最近、英会話の講師に「There are a man and a woman in the room」は間違いで、「There is a man and a woman in the room」が正しいと訂正されました。「bread and butter」のような一体的なものを指す時に例外的に単数扱いになるのは知っていましたが…。 講師の解説は、「and…が付いていても、a manは単数形なんだから単数扱いでいいんだ」というものでいまいち釈然としません。講師の勘違いなら良いのですが、検索すると、海外の英語学習のコミュニティサイトでも後者が正しいというような記述を見かけます。どなたか解説頂けませんでしょうか？お願いいします。

If a man gets too caught up on a woman's looks he gets blinded and can never truly see the real woman inside, which makes him and the woman live in a false reality. But once the man and woman truly see eachother for who they are and accept eachothers differences then that's where a true relationship begins, whether it's good or bad.
