いつも大変お世話になっております。 次のような英文を受け取ったのですが、pay their affiliation の訳し方で迷っています。 I am currently trying to establish friendly ties with other (中略) members I talked with the （いくつかの集団の名前） and all I recommend to them, to please pay their affiliation with our mutual friend （人の名前）, 「彼らとの提携を払う」となりますが「注意を払う」ようなことなのか、またはお金を払うようなニュアンスが含まれているのか、自分には判断しがたいです。 この英文は、多分スペイン語から英語に翻訳したことで分かりにくくなっているとは思います。 恐れ入りますが、その適切な解釈をご教示いただけますと幸いです。

affliation を払う 英語的にはそのままです。 affliation 自体がお金を表す単語なら「お金を払う」 これが pay の基本的用法ではあります。 affliation することが何かのお返しになるなら 「連携することで，（何かしてくれたことの）返礼をする」 ということにもなり得ます。 ただ，ここでは素直に，pay attention「注意を払う」と同じような比喩表現で pay respest「敬意を払う」すなわち，「表する，示す」的な意味がでますので， ここでも「連携の意思を示す」，afflication with ～とあるので， 「～との友好関係を示す」 という感覚で用いていると思います。

等位接続詞で結ばれた節の主語は省略できるのですよね。例えば、I made friends with some Korean students and talked with them in English.と言う文章ですが、talkedの前のＩは省略されているのですよね。ならば、He hope to succeed,but he failed.という文章のheも省略できるのでしょうか？
