Advertising is structured to cause us to imitate and want what we see. It stimulates desire and asks us to act. This makes advertising potentially more dangerous than any other art form.

Think of it this way. Each of us is, more or less, an egg. Each of us is a unique, irreplaceable soul enclosed in a fragile shell. This is true of me, and it is true of each of you. And each of us, to a greater or lesser degree, is "The System". The System is supposed to protect us, but sometimes it take on a life of its own, and then it begins to kill us and cause us to kill others-coldly, efficiently, systematically.

A customer walks into a store. He stands in front of hundreds of boxes of deter-gent. He chooses one brand, pays for it, and leaves. why does he pick that specific kind of soap? Is it truly better than the others? Probably not. These days, many products are nearly identical to one another in quality and price. If products are almost the same, what makes customers buy one brand instead of another? Although we might not like to admit it, commercials on television and advertisements in magazines probably influence us. Advertising informs customers of new products on the market. It gives us information about everything from shampoo and toothpaste to computers and cars. But here is one serious problem with this. Very often the "information" is really misinformation. Needless to say, it tells us the products' advantages. But it also hides their disadvantages. Advertising leads us to buy things that we don't need. It also confuses our sense of reality. "Beauty Queen shampoo gives you shiny hair!" a popular singer known for her beautiful hair says in an advertisement. But it doesn't tell us the complete truth: that a healthy diet will have the same effect. お願いします。

以下の文の和訳を自分でしてみたのですが、変な日本語になってしまいます。和訳をお願いいたしますm--m The way we relate to movies depends on what we bring to the film and what is the intention of the film. If the film wants to challenge us, presenting us with a choice that we ask ourselves how we would respond under these circumstances - movies like Force Majeure by Pierre Jolivet or even the class Casablanca - then the movie is proactive and we are a vital participant. And depending how we feel as we enter the experience, we too will be creating our personal reaction to the film and where some may cry others will laugh - at the same material depending on our belief systems. Now most movies want us in fact to be reactors - and in a sense more passive. But even then our psychological makeup will determine how we relate and this makes us all "active " in our responses.

Synthetic biology is in fact the name now used for a cluster of new technologies in which, as John McCarthy, the computer scientist, says, biomolecular components (natural or synthetic) are newly combined or reorganised to create novel genetic and biochemical circuitry, pathways, and ultimately organisms. It is, in a sense, a hybrid discipline between science and engineering. Synthetic biology has caugh the imagination not least because it makes the beginnings of potentially manufacturing life forms from scratch and eventually of creating tailor-made creatures in our own image-or in principle in the image of anything we can engineer. This is heady stuff, and if it works may give us un precedented powers. If we can try to understand how to make better creatures than ourselves, longer-lived, more resistant to disease and injury, healthier and better adapted to a changing environment, we should surely do so. よろしくお願いします。

Advertisers ask psychologists for advice. These experts tell adver-tisers about the concepts of fear and self-image. They also inform them of new studies on colors and words. Psychologists have found that certain colors on the packages of a product will cause people to choose that product. Also, certain words attract our attention. For example, the words "new," "improved," "natural," and "bigger size" are very popular and seem to draw our eyes toward the package. Many people believe that advertising does not affect them. They feel that they have freedom of choice, and they like to think they make wise choices. Unfortunately, they probably don't realize the powerful effect of advertising. Do you believe that ads don't influence your choice of products? Just look at the brands in your house. お願いします
