彼はいつも言う。彼は言葉を音として使うと。 要は、そのミュージシャンは言葉をサウンドに変換するんだ ということでしょうか。 words as sounds はひとかたまりではなく、 he use words[彼は言葉を使う]がメインで、 as soundsは、どんな風にuse[使う]のかを説明しているんだと思います。 英文は、言いたいことを前にポンとおいて、その説明や詳細を後ろにくっ付けていくという特徴があります。 日本語の文法とは違うからややこしいですよね。

as usual について質問があります。 as always より頻度は低いですよね？ 普段の自分を知っている人に対して使うと「いつもどおり」や「相変わらずだよ」とか「例のごとく」とか そういう意味になると思いますが、 普段の自分を知らない人に対して使うと 「普段の私はこういう人なんですよ」という意味合いも含まれるでしょうか？ それとも普段の自分を知らない人にいきなり as usual とは使えないのでしょうか？

台詞がくさいってcheesyを使うといいと聞いたのですが、cornyとかsounds clicheなどとどう違うかがよくわかりません。次のような文で使いたかったのですが、言いたいことが伝わっているでしょうか・・・どなたか添削していただけるとうれしいです。 ☆彼はナルシストかも。くさいことばかりいうんだもん。この前も笑いをこらえるのに必死だった。 He must be a narcissist because he always says cheesy things. いつも参考にさせていただいております。以下、よろしければご回答下さい。 前提として、I ran as fast as he did. の訳は、 「私は彼と同じ速さで走った」 です。だとしたら、その否定文の I didn't run as fast as he did. は「私は彼と同じ速さで走らなかった」（私と彼のどちらが速かったかは不明）となるはずですが、正解は「私は彼ほど速く走らなかった」（彼の方が速く走った）となるようです。 肯定文のfastは単に同程度の速さという意味なのに、否定文のfastは速度が速いという意味に変わってしまっています。このあたり、どのよう考えればよいでしょうか？
