比較の文章
Every infant learns more in the first three years of life than most adults learn in a university course. という文章がありますが、この文章はどういった二つの文から構成されているんでしょうか？ moreはa lotとかの比較でしょうか？ また後半のlearnは省略可能でしょうか？ 稚拙な質問で申し訳ありませんが、英語の文法に詳しい方、回答よろしくお願い致します。

１。 more は、many, much の比較級だと、下記にあります。 http://eow.alc.co.jp/more/UTF-8/ 二つの文は A. Every infant learns much in the first three years of life B. Most adults learn much in a university course. で、１の方が２「より多く」学ぶ、ということでしょう。特に大学教育全部ではなく、不定冠詞がついた大学の「一」講座、が比較の対象になっていますので、別に驚くことはないのではないでしょうか。 １で子供は母語のネイティブになりますが、大学の一学期で学生が身に付ける第二外国語の習得量は、比べるまでもないような気がします。 ２。また後半のlearnは省略可能でしょうか？ そうですね。前半は主語が単数ですから learns になっていますが、後半は主語が複数ですから learn になっています。ですから省略可能ではない、と言う人もいると思います。

Every infant learns more <in the first three years of life> than most adults learn <in a university course> 本文は「子供はみんな大抵の大人が大学で学ぶことよりもっと多くのことを、最初の3年間で習得する。」ですからー・・・ Every infant learns more <in the first three years of life>（子供は最初の3年間でもっと学ぶよ） と than most adults learn in a university course.（大人が大学で学ぶより） じゃないですか？ 初めの節の中にあるmoreは大体文中（或いは文章中）の何かと比較して「より多く」という意味になります。 次節のthanは、その位置より前に出てきた何かと比較されています。 極端に言うと He eats more than I do. という文と一緒です。文中の<>を抜いて読んでみてください。慣れるまでは<>で括られるような副詞節や前置詞節を抜いて読んでみましょう。 わからなかったらすいません。

基本はmore～than…です。 すべての幼児が人生の最初の3年（3歳まで）に学ぶことは、ほとんどの大人が大学課程で学ぶことより多い。 much（たくさん）の比較級ですね。 後半のlearnを省略してしまうと意味が通じ辛くなります。 せめてdoくらいは必要かと。

ダイアローグ1800で勉強をしているのですが、次の文章がよく分りません。 Now I know what it means to have meals in a foreign country; not only do I have to learn manners but also a lot of things with strange names. 訳は、 ちょっとレイジースーザンのことはもういいよ。他の国で食事をするにはマナーだけじゃなくて、いろいろ変な名前のついたものを覚えなくちゃいけないわけだね。 となっています。そこで疑問点なのですが、 (1) 訳の「ちょっとレイジースーザンのことはもういいよ。」に該当する英文の箇所が分りません。「Now I know what it means」かとも思いましたが、そうなるとその後の「to have meals in a foreign country」に続かないですよね？ (2) 「not only do I have to learn manners but also a lot of things with strange names.」 の箇所は、 I have to learn not only manners but also a lot of things with strange names. と書き換え可能ですか？ 先頭の「not only do」の箇所が分らないのです。 以上、どなたかご教示願えれば幸いです。
