いつも皆さんのお世話になっております。 今回は、いわゆる比較級を用いた最上級表現についてなのですが (1) Tokyo is bigger than any other city in Japan. (2) Tokyo is bigger than any city in Spain. においてotherの有無が区別されますよね。それを踏まえると (3) No (other) city in Japan is bigger than Tokyo. (4) No (other) city in Japan is as big as Tokyo. の2文について、otherが必要なのかどうかを教えてください。 直訳の意味からすると、前者はother不要（Tokyo「より大きい」都市はないから）で、後者は必要（Tokyo自身がTokyoと同じ大きさだから）だと思うのですが、どうなのでしょう。文法書で調べてもこの部分の説明があまり詳しくなかったので（otherが括弧で括ってありました・・・）質問させていただいた次第です。 また Nothing[Nobody] is 比較級 than ～ Nothing[Nobody] is as 原級 as ～ という表現で、nothing、nobodyの後にelseがつくことはないのでしょうか。ついている例を見つけられなかったのですが、後者には先述の例と同様elseがついたほうがいいように思います。 (5) Nobody (else) in our class is taller than him. (6) Nobody (else) in our class is as tall as him. どうなのでしょう。 すみませんが前者のほうの質問は友人から受けたものなので、できれば早めに回答をいただけるととてもありがたいです。

「私の父は、商店街の他の店よりも30分早く開店し、一時間遅く閉店していた。」を 「My father's store opened half an hour earlier and closed an hour later than any other store in the mall.」 としましたが、おかしいところはないでしょうか？ もしくはこれをもっとスマートに書くことはできますか？ また、私の父を主語にした場合 「My father opened his store half an hour earlier and closed it an hour later than any other store（もしくはanyone else）in the mall.」 とするといかがでしょう？ ひょっとすると、実際あまりあり得ない場面ですが、文構造的に 「私の父は商店街の他人の店を開ける（閉める）よりも早く自分の店を開ける（閉める）」であったり、 「商店街の他の誰かが父の店を開ける（閉める）よりも早く父はそれを開ける（閉める）」 のような意味になってしまうでしょうか？ もしそうだとしたら、私の父を主語にした場合はどのように書いたらいいでしょうか？ 例えば、「My father ～・・・than anyone else did theirs in the mall.」のようなものも考えたのですが、なんか今度は英文として不自然に（くどく）思えてしまいます。 よろしくお願いします。

例えば、比較級 + than any other などみたいに比較級だけど意味が最上級になる表現って他にどの様なものがありますか？ no,never,nothing～ 比較級 + than no,never,nothing～as(so)～as と考えてしまっては駄目ですか??
