正しい（息継ぎ）区切り方の仕方を教えてください。
正しい（息継ぎ）区切り方の仕方を教えてください。 Ａ． It was not this.だと It was not this.のwas notどちらで区切ればいいかわかりません。教えてください。 Ａ－１．It（区切り）was not（区切り）this. Ａ－２．It（区切り）was （区切り）not this. どっちが正しいですか？

No. 2 です。 ＜It-wasnotthis.になるのでは＞ いえ。it のイ(i)が母音、was のワの部分のア(a)が母音、not のノの部分のオ(o)が母音、this のジの部分のイ(i)が母音です。ですから it-was-not-this は４シラブルです。 なお out の「アウ(ou)」などの２重母音は（ア＋ウではなくて）一つと数えますので、out-of は２シラブルです。 辞書では mem-o-ry などと書いてありますが、これは memory が３シラブルであることを示しています。

同じことを言うけど、判りやすくすると、 ＞It was not this. 会話だと息継ぎはしない長さだけど区切りは ”イトゥワズントゥ、ジス．”か”イトゥワズナット、ジス．”で それぞれ区切り前の”ワズントゥ”か”ナット”にアクセントが掛かるよ。 細かく言うなら強調したいことにアクセントが係り、区切りが付きます。 この文で大切なこと＝強調したいことはNOTです。 なのでそこにアクセントをつけて、区切りましょう。

区切るという考えではないと思います。母音の間は等間隔が原則です。It-was-not-this. は４シラブルを等間隔で言います。 ただしイントネーションが必要で、not と this にアクセントを置き、逆に it, was は弱く発音します。

このくらいの長さだと全く区切らないんじゃないですかね。一気にIt was not thisと言います。 それじゃ答えになりませんか？

not too とnot enough 前者は「～あまり～でない」の意味にもなり、後者は「～まだ十分～でない」というほどの意味ですが、 例文としては、 This knife isn't sharp enough.（このナイフはあまり切れない） He is not too well today. （彼はきょうはあまり元気でない） ところで、 「昨日、河は凍結しなかった」のあと、 It was not too cold. It was not cold enough. のどちらがいいか、どうか、 また、「もう少し砂糖を加えてほしい」のあとに、 This coffee is not too sweet. This cofee is not sweet enough. のどちらがいいかで考えこんでいます。 どとらも「not enough」でいいと思うのですが、「not too(=very)」でもいいように思えます。あるいは後者はいわゆる「略表現」にあたり、こういうふうには使わないものなのか。 宜しくお願いします。
