another は いくつかある内の”どれかもう一つ”、 二つのうちの もう一方なら 特定しなくても残りはこれしかないのでthe other。 特定していなくてもanotherは使えます。 これがダメなら特定しないままanother,another, 次々と進み 最後に the last one になります。 特定していなくて、いくつかの内のどれか、（どれにするか言っている本人にもまだわからない、漠然と“他”の）という時に 単数でも some は使えます。 少し投げやりな感じで、”どこかその辺の目についたジャーナルにでも投稿するよ”という気持ちなら some を使ってもいいと思います。 Who told you that ? I don't know, some guy. 誰があなたにそう言ったの？ わからない、その辺の男。（男は1人） some journals と複数形なら 特定しないいくつかの～ some journal （どこかその辺の）というほどの意味もなく 他の、 なら other journal でいいと思いますよ。 例文は話し手の気持ちや状況もありますが。

Another = an other 単数形です。 some other journals で複数形になります。 従って、特定している場合は the other journal (単数形）、特定していない場合は another journal か some other journals でいいと思います。

状況が分からないのですが other journal は見ません。 特定していれば I will submit this result to the other journal in the future. 特定していない場合には I will submit this result to another journal in the future. でいいと思います。

After his success with three local restaurants, John, an entrepreneur, has decided to open ???? in Singapore. この????に入る選択肢の問題で、anotherが正解なのはわかるのですが、otherは不可でしょうか？ otherは「その他」なので、レストランとは限らない。わざわざアントレプレナーと挿入されているから、レストランを指し示すことができるanotherにする。 と推測してみましたが自信が持てません。 直接参考にしたのは下記です。 I will buy that PC, and he will buy another. という場合には、anotherと言っただけで、彼が買おうとしているのは別のPCであることがわかります。 これが、 I will buy that PC, and he will buy others. だと、彼が買おうとしているのはほかの物であるというだけで、PCなのか何なのかわかりません。 ちなみに、 もし、ジョンが将来１０個レストランを持ちたいと思っていて、今、残りの７個を同時にオープンすることを決めたとした場合、others は同じような理由でダメでしょうか？the othersならOKのような気がします。 詳しい方、よろしくお願いします。

to put it in other words と言う場合は it の次に in がつくのに、なぜ、同じ意味の to put it another way と言うときは it の次に in がつかないのですか？

英訳の問題です。 「将来私たちは鳥のように飛ぶことができるでしょう」を 『WE will be able to fly like birds in the future.』としたのですが、 問題集の模範解答は 「WE will be able to fly like a bird in the future.」となっていました。 私の答えでは間違えでしょうか。お願いします。

- 「英文解釈」の質問です。
次の英文を和訳して頂けないでしょうか。 Everyone wants the same result. However, even though there are many ways to do this, I tend to try to do it in one way (I personally don't like that way). Isn't there a possibility that things won't go smoothly or that conflicts will arise during this process? I think it will be difficult to resolve the issue unless everyone first accepts each other.

ありがとうございます。 でも another journal だとjournalが２つしかなくても、もう一つの方に出す。 という感じがするのですが。 一方で、some other journals だと、複数のjournal誌に対して 投稿しますよ。 という意味になってしまい、本来の意味とは違ったものになってしまうと思うのですが・・・ 複数journal誌があり、そのどれかに出すという意味だとどうすれば良いのでしょうか？
