次の文でわからないところがあるんですが。
women can now pay a full insurance contribution which gives them independence from their husbands when they do need to claim money, but women who do not work have to depend on their husbands' payments. 訳は、「今では女性でも社会保険料を全額払うことができ、どうしてもお金を請求する必要がある場合は、夫と関係なくもらえるが、働いていない女性がもらえるかどうかは夫の支払った保険料しだいである。」とかいてありました。 but以下はわかりました。which～husbandsがうまく訳せません。 どのように考えると、意味のわかる訳ができるか、教えてください。

こんにちは。 which（full insurance contributionが）gives them（彼女たちにもたらす） independence（独立を） from their husbands（彼女たちの夫からの）という構成です。つまり、保険料を全額支払えるその事実が、彼女たちの夫からの独立（この場合、彼女たちが夫に関係なく保険金を請求できるということ）をもたらしている、ということです。 こんな説明でわかっていただけたら、うれしい。

翻訳サイトを使って考えてみました。 which～husbandsまでの訳は、 社会保険料を夫から独立してもらう事が出来ます。 というような事をいっているのだと思います。 independence：独立 husband：夫 翻訳サイトの方は、フリーなので、あまり精度は良くありませんが、ちょっと意味を知りたいなと思ったら、辞書よりは、文章を翻訳することができるので、わかりやすいと思います。

ではまずそのわからない部分のみ切り離してみます。 a full insurance contribution gives women independence from their husbands ・・・ 直訳すると、 「社会保険料を全額払うこと」が女性に「夫からの独立」を「与える」 ですよね。 主語を変えて言い換えれば、「女性は、社会保険を全額払うことによって、夫からの独立を得る」 ということで意味は変わりませんよね？ あとは、ayakakayaさんが考えている意味あいにこれを付け加えてください。 お金を請求する＝保険金を申請する と変えて ayakakayaさんの言葉を使って訳しなおすと、 「今では女性でも社会保険料を全額払うことができるので、[これによって] 保険金を申請する必要があるとき(つまり事故にあったりしたときですね) 夫に関係なく手続きができる(申請してもお金が出るとは限らないので)のだが、・・・ 働いていない女性がもらえるかどうかは夫の支払った保険料しだいである。」 わかりやすいかなあ？
