cut ＝　stop providing something: to stop providing a service or supply of something

とうもろこしを粉にする臼は3尺幅（約９０ｃｍ）、杵は３腕尺（約１５０ｃｍ）、荷車の車軸は7尺に切れ。そうすれば上手くいく；車軸を8尺にしたいのであれば、耕したあとの土の塊を砕く大槌を抜かすが良かろう。
