今私は、ToK(Theory of Knowledge)と言うクラスで、エッセイを書く課題を出されてしまいました。 タイトルはこれです・・・ "Which sources of knowledge; books, web sites, the media, personal experience, authorities or some other - do you consider most trustqorthy, and why?"

In Europe and America, as well as in Asia, people become respected for their practical experience and knowledge. In a mobile society, however, the one who travels most gains the most new experience and knowledge. The person who stays in the same place tends to know only one way of doing things. The person who visits a dozen countries may learn a dozen ways of doing things in the same period of time. Thus, explorers like Leif Ericsson, Marco Polo, Vasco da Gama, and Daniel Boone became heroes in their respective cultures even as fairly young men. Respect of experience over age became evident in the "New World."

Man has always been engaged in a two-fold struggle, with his physical enviroment and with mankind. In general, he has been winning the former and losing the latter. He has gained comfort, convenience and a reasonable degree of physical safety, but he has failed to achieve a peaceful world. He has conquered the elements and created scientific miracles, but he has not learned how to live with his fellow man.

But London ordered Cox not to issue his proclamation, and came out with its own proclamation asking Arab leaders to aid the British administration. At the same time, the Indian colonial government had different ideas. After all, they had been the prime movers behind Mesopotamia in the first place. The British government in India wanted this new area placed under its direct control. This power struggle led to the creation of the Mesopotamian Administration Committee, under the leadership of Lord Curzon. Its main task was to determine who would govern the Basra and Baghdad provinces. Its ruling was a British, not Anglo-Indian, administration for Basra and an Arab authority for Baghdad.
