和訳を教えてください（大学院入試過去問）
臨床心理の指定大学院入試を目指しているものです。過去問を訳しているのですが分からない部分があり、アドバイスをいただきたいです。 Ａｔ that time、he had begun to walk on railway lines and through tunnels with complete disregard for all personal danger. 英文全体の内容は１２歳の少年の心理療法についてです。 「少年は鉄道の線路の上を歩きはじめたり、身体の危険を無視してトンネルを・・・」 「 through tunnels with complete disregard for all personal danger.」 の部分の役がわからなくて・・・構文としてはtunnelが動詞ですか？ あと基本的なことで恐縮なのですが Ｈe felt and akuted as if he were a train because his whole body had become a symbol in the service of this fantsy in which he and his father entered the mothers body 以上の英文なのですが私は 「少年はまるで自分が電車であるかのように行動したり、物事を知 覚した。なぜなら全身が・・・」 「in the service of this fantasy in which he and his father entered the mothers body」 「in the service of this fantasy」の部分は和訳はどうしたらいいでしょうか？ の部分の理解が曖昧で教えていただきたいのですが、 「in which」はfantasyとｓｙｍｂｏｌどちらですか？その理由なども教えていただけらら・・ありがたいです。

＃２です。的はずれだったかもしれない回答にご丁寧なお礼を、ありがとうございます。 in the service of ですが、手元の辞書を見てもこの熟語はないしアルクでは「～に仕えて」という意味だったので、この場合は当てはまらないなあと思い、service の「（宗教上の）儀式、お勤め」というのがこの場合はよさそうかも、と思って書いてしまいました。 ところがそのあと"in the service of" で検索してみますと、「～に仕えて」という意味ではない使用例がたくさんあるんですね。 例えば"in the service of ego" とかは、心理学的用語かもしれませんが多く見受けられました。 serviceの元の動詞serveには「仕える、～のために働く、勤める、～の助けになる、～に供する」などといろいろな意味がありますが、これらから受ける印象で何となくイメージがつかめてきた気がします。 つまり、「このfantasy をserve することにおいて」ととらえてもいいと思うので、「この空想の助けとなるために」などと考えればいいのではないでしょうか。 ただし、今回もまた的はずれかもしれませんので、そうだったらごめんなさい！

＞○ 「in the serive of ...」は「・・・の働きにより」ですが、違約をして「・・・の影響を受けて」ではどうでしょうか。 ○ あわてるといけませんね。訂正します。 ※ 「in the serice of ...」 → 「in the service of ...」 ※ 違約 → 意訳 ＞○ 「symbol」は心理学用語で「抑圧された欲望」だそうです。「シンボル」と訳しておいてもよいのかもしれません。 ○ 通常は、専門用語には脚注がついているのではないかと思いますが、ない場合には「シンボル状態」とでも訳しておくしかないですね。志望学科の分野ですから、「心理学でいうところの・・・」くらいの説明ができると良いと思います。

akuted→actedです。お詫びします。 私は英文の枝葉のところに気になってしまうところがあります。今回のような「in the serive of 」です。こういうちょっとわからないところはあえて、避けて文章を簡単なＳＶＯに分けてしまえばいいのでしょうか？そうやって後で修飾語をつけたすほうがいいのかな・・・？ どうでしょうか？

and (walk) through tunnels ___ a symbol (in the service) of this fantasy 無理やり訳すよりとっちゃったほうがいいかも。 which = fantasy 理由・・・隣にあるから。where に置き換えたとき symbol だと意味不明。
