full of cheerful sunの時刻
I have been drunk twice in my life, and the second time was that afternoon, so everything that happened has a dim, hazy cast over it, although until after eight o'clock the apartment was full of cheerful sun. ってゆう文で、 私は、 『私が人生で酔っ払ったことがあるのは２回だけだが、この午後が二度目だった、そんなわけで持ち上がったことは全てあいまいな靄に包まれてしまっている。しかし、８時を回るまで、アパートメントが快活な陽光にあふれていたのは覚えている。』 と訳したのですが、 『８時を回るまでアパートメントが快活な陽光にあふれていた』 って 『快活な陽光 full of cheerful sun』だけ見ると朝っぽいから 朝の８時のことかと思ったけど 『この午後that afternoon』のことを書いているので、よくわかりません。 私の訳がだめなのか、full of cheerful sunは時刻的にはいつなのか、わからないので、どなたかアドバイスください。 よろしくお願いいたします。

こんにちは。お久しぶりです。6／3のご質問ではご丁寧なお返事を有難うございました。 この作者はヨーロッパの人ではありませんか？ヨーロッパは4月以降、6月をピークに10月頃まで日が長くなります。北極圏に近ければ近いほど、日中時間は長く白夜という現象まであります。 例えばイギリスでは夏だと11時くらいまで明るいので、夜の8時なら日本の午後3～4時といった明るさです。ここで描かれているcheerful sunはその太陽の眩しさを表したものなのでしょう。 また、ここでは、お酒を飲まなくてはならないほど落ち込んでしまっている様子が、a dim, hazy cast over it（直訳）「ぼんやりと薄暗い光を投げかけ」といった表現に表れています。full of cheerful sunはそうした陰鬱なイメージと対象的に置かれ、彼の人生の「暗」「陰」の部分をさらに浮き上がらせる効果を持った、修辞的な技法として描かれています。 アラン・ドロンの仏映画「太陽がいっぱい」のラスト・シーンで、燦々と輝く太陽、それを浴びて光の中で幸福の絶頂にひたっている主人公の背後に、彼を逮捕しようと待ち構える警官達。その輝く太陽が眩しければ眩しいほど、彼の不幸で不運な人生の翳りが、より哀しく浮かび上がってくるのです。 ご質問文の「太陽」も、そんな効果をもっている描写になっています。 以上ご参考までに。

こんにちは、 午後８時でも、外が明るい事は外国では有り得る事ですよ。 サマータイム中は、１時間時計が早くなるし・・・。 until after eight o'clock なので、 午後８時だと思います。
