難しいですね。 私は少し大きい辞書で調べましたが「感情」以外にもいろいろな意味が載っています。まず、emotionですが、これは「感動」と訳すのが適当ではないかと思います。語源はmoveです。 問題はsentimentですが、一番適当なのは「（国民）感情」ではないかと考えます。手元のLDOCEには、popular/public sentiment (＝what most people think)とあります。なんというか、集合的な意見（＝opinion）に近いのではないでしょうか。 で、この訳のキモは、「個人」対「大衆」の対比にあるのではないかと考えます。拙訳を試みますと、 感動は人それぞれ、でも、（国民）感情は同じ。

英文解釈の問題なのです。 What is an idea? It is not just a word, nor is it a string of words. ありがとうございます。私もかなり混乱してまいりました。「人を動かす感情」は同じだけど「動かされた時の表現」は違うということでしょうか。表現の仕方は違っても「気持ちや意見」は同じと考えられますかね。
補足
例えばある政治家が熱演をしていて、それに対して誰かがThe emotion is differen but sentimet is same.と言ったとします。そういう場合は「個人差はあるけれど 感情は同じ」というふうに捉えてよいのでしょうか。
