意味が良く分からないので教えてください。 ある女性が、初対面の人の前で及んだ行為なのですが、 She was unconscious of the anxious business of turning the head upon the neck. この意味は「彼女は無意識のうちに、そっぽを向くという心配な行為に及んだ」 ということでしょうか？ turn the head upon the neck という表現を初めて 見たのですが、特別な意味があるのでしょうか？ よろしくお願いいたします。

こんにちは、J.L.CarrのThe Battle of Plollock Crossing.という本を読んでいます。 その冒頭文に出てくる文章なのですが、、、 'No, not if ten Vice-Presidents and each with two heads on his neck were coming to unveil it,' Mr Gidner said sourly. 分かっている部分だけ訳すと、 「だめ、たとえ１０人の『二つ頭の（？）』副プレジデントが公にするために来ようとも」Mr Gidnerは不機嫌に言った だと思いますが、タイトルの通り、Two head on his neckの部分が分かりません。 これは一体どういう意味なんでしょうか？ 教えてください、よろしくお願い致します。

Thalassomedon was a sea monster with a very long neck. it also had a special means of catching fish : it carried stones in its stomach! there helped keep the largest portion of its body down in the dark water while the long neck slowly rose up towards the fish. the fish had no defense against Thalassomedon they did not see huge animal until it was too late!

HMS Hampshire was one of six Devonshire-class armoured cruisers built for the Royal Navy in the first decade of the 20th century. She sank with heavy loss of life, including Kitchener and his staff. Rumours later circulated of German spies and sabotage being involved in the sinking. Her wreck is listed under the Protection of Military Remains Act, though part was later illegally salvaged. Several films have been made exploring the circumstances of her loss.
