moment はある時の点を表しますので、 As soon as he had hinished his homework, he started watching TV. 「宿題を終えるやいなや、テレビを見始めた。」では、次の動作に素早く移った様子が伝わります。 The moment he had finished his homework, he started watching TV. は、「宿題を終えた時には（もう）テレビを見始めていた。」と次の動作へ移る様子がありません。 instant はmomentと同じ用法で使えて、この場合は「瞬間に」（本当に一秒かかるかかからないかの内に）次の動作をしている様子になりますね。 ただ、この例で言うと、宿題を終えるとかテレビを見るなどは数秒間くらいは必要とするので、あまりの素早さを特に強調したい場合には使えるのではないでしょうか。 他の用語としては、No.2の方のImmidiatly after、Just as、no sooner ～ than などなど。 例) No sooner had he finished his homework, he started watching TV. 宿題を終えるやいなや電光石火の早さでテレビを見始めた。（意訳） 単に動作が連続している「引き続いて」というのであれば、followingなどが使えるでしょう。

Forestに次の例文があります。 (1) My dog started to bark as soon as he heard my voice. (2) He had no sooner stepped outside than it started to rain. どちらも～するとすぐにという訳になってますが、 (1)は主節、従節とも過去形(2)は従節が過去完了で主節が過去形です。 この違いは(1)は時間差がほとんどなくて(2)はある程度の時間差があるからでしょうか？そうするとno sooner thanの構文を使って英作文をする時はたえず時制の違いをださないといけないのでしょうか？
