This despite
Mr.BB receives perquisite as a company car. But Mr.AA did not. This despite the fact that Mr.AA's work was commended countless times, that he often worked unpaid overtime, and that he never missed a day of work during the ten years between 1988 and 1998.

This requires not that the writer make all his sentences short, or that he avoid all detail and treat his subjects only in outline, but that every word tell. Vigorous writing is concise. A sentence should contain no unnecessary words, a paragraph no unnecessary sentences, for the same reason that a drawing should have no unnecessary lines and a machine no unnecessary parts. This requires not that the writer make all his sentences short, or that he avoid all detail and treat his subjects only in outline, but that every word tell. Business Communication/Harvard Business Essentials

「I plan to quit SSS soon and work that 1 day a week I work at SSS to work at AAA. I'll get automatic overtime.」 そして 「I plan to quit SSS soon and work that 1 day a week I work at SSS to work at AAA.」

“There are three people in this debate, not two,” Mr. Edwards reminded Wolf Blitzer, the moderator of the debate, which was sponsored by the Congressional Black Caucus and shown on CNN. “I also want to know on behalf of voters in South Carolina, how many children are going to get health care because of this? We have got to understand that this is not about us personally.” また、this is not about us personally.”

- (233~234) This Strife ……
QA233 This Strife is wholesome for men. And potter is angry with potter, and craftsman with craftsman, and beggar is jealous of beggar, and minstrel of minstrel. QA234 (ll. 25-41) Perses, lay up these things in your heart, and do not let that Strife who delights in mischief hold your heart back from work, while you peep and peer and listen to the wrangles of the court-house. Little concern has he with quarrels and courts who has not a year's victuals laid up betimes, even that which the earth bears, Demeter's grain. (1)-1 最初の段落のlet文について これは and do not let (A , while B) ―という構文でしょうか。 (1)-2 Strife who delights in mischief hold your heart のwho 以下は Strifeの修飾句である。 よって、and do not let that Strife back from work とすれば、 backは他動詞のはずですが、目的語(you)がない。 backが自動詞なら、Perses back from workという意味になるので しょうか。(この意味は動かないと思います) 倒置と考えても、 that (to) Strife ……back from work. (2)even that which the earth bears, Demeter's grain. 直前のvictuals 直後のDemeter's grain -これでしょうか (3)lay upについて lay up in your heart; 「心に蓄えよ」とは言わない。
