これを訳したいんですが・・・・。

質問

・私が最も尊敬しているのは、中学校の歴史の先生です。
・先生は過去をさまざまな角度から見ることを私たちに教えてくれました。
・私はまた、現在を理解するためには過去を知る必要があることを知りました。
・私は歴史を学ぶ大切さと楽しさを教えてくれたことに対して、先生にとても感謝しています。

英語に訳したいのですが、うまくできません。関係代名詞も使わなければいけないのでややこしくなってしまいました。
・The person whom I respect most is history teacher of my junior high school.
・My teacher taught us ここからよくわかりません。from different points of viewを使うことはわかるんですが・・・。
・I also ここからもややこしくなってしまってわからないんです・・・。necessaryを使うのかなぁ、とは思ったんですが・・・。
・Ｉ learn history ここからもわかりません・・・。「importance and joy」が「大切さと楽しさですよね？たぶん・・・。」　感謝だとThank youとかＩ'm very grateful to you forやexpress my gratitude forを使うと思うんですが、どれをつかうべきなのかも・・・。

関係代名詞などが苦手で混乱してなかなか出来なくて困っているので教えてくれないでしょうか？お願いします。
たぶん私が英文に直した文も少し変なところもあると思います・・・。

or
Our history teacher is the one whom I respect most in my junior high school.

What my teacher taught us is considering history from various points of view.

I also learn that it is necessary to know the history which makes the present situation, in order to understand the present situation.

別に自信があるわけではないのですが…。
1番目はほとんどできたようなもんじゃないですか？

英訳は苦手ですが
関係代名詞を使う必要あるんですか？

１．この場合ofではない。日本語に引きずられないように。
