英文で、どう解釈すればよいか微妙な部分があるので、教えてください。 For entry at the start of the academic year in October, all applications must be received between 1st September and 15th January. Students applying from outside the UK or European Union may submit applications until 30th June, but it is advisable to meet the 15th January deadline if possible as universities are not obliged to consider applications received after this date. この文章で、英国EU外からの出願は6/30までだが、1/15までに出すのが望ましいということがかいてあって、as universities～after this date.までがその理由だと思うのですが、これは「大学側は6/30より後にきた出願を考慮する（受理する）義務などないから」なのか「大学側が1/15より後に受け付けた出願だからといって特にそれが（遅いからといって悪い方向に）考慮されることはないのだが」なのかよくわかりません。どのような解釈がいいのか教えてください。

前者です。「受理する義務がないから」ですね。 ここでのconsiderは、「考慮する」というよりも「（願書を）検討する」という意味で使われていますので。 なお、英語の問題というよりも留学テクですが、願書は早い方がいいです。「（一応）いついつまで受け付けている」というぎりぎりのデッドラインに間に合っていても、既に人数枠が埋まっている場合がありますので。（このあたりは教えてgooの「留学」の方が詳しい人が多いかもしれませんが） ご参考になれば。

以前、「この文のthan以下の省略されているもの」 http://okwave.jp/qa/q7934029.html で質問させていただいた者です。 前回と同じ文章においての質問なのですが、今回質問したいのは文章の最後の一文なので、文章全体を見てもらう必要があると思いますので、全文を記載します。 There are two courses open to the photographer. 下の方と違うみたいですね。 個人的には、but it is...if possibleあたりの文のつながりを見ると後者、直訳的にnot obliged to（検討（受理）する義務がないから） を考えると前者のような気がするのですが、どちらなのでしょうか？
