シイタケはmushroomの範疇？
シイタケは a kind of mushroom quite popular in Japan みたいな感じで使えますか？ mushroom はキノコ全般を指す語として使えますか？ 第2の質問、これは重要な質問じゃないので無視してくださってもいいです。「キノコ頭（髪型を指して）」という形容はあちらではレアですか？

最近はずばり、Shiitake でアメリカでは通じちゃいますね。乾燥しいたけなんかも米系グロッサリーで普通に売られてるし。白菜はNappa（菜っ葉）ですしね。 きのこ類はMushroomで使えますね。 第２の質問ですが、「キノコ頭」＝「Mushroom Head」は意外にもある業界では、普通に使われます。髪型はどうかわかりませんが、機械の非常停止ボタンなど、キノコみたいな形をしてますので、「Mushroom head button」と呼ばれています。

イギリスに留学中の者です。 No.1さんの回答と重なるのですが、イギリスのスーパーでは、しいたけはshiitake mushroomとして売られています。パッケージのシールにもそのように印刷されています。香りも味もしいたけなのですが、日本のものと比べると少し異なる気がします。 ２番目の質問ですが、私は聞いたことがありません。

こんにちは。 mushroom はキノコ全般を指す語として使えますよ。 kipperscallopさんがおっしゃるように「a kind of mushroom quite popular in Japan」という説明はわかりやすくてよいと思いますよ。 なお、シイタケは Chinese mushroom とか shiitake mushroom と言っても通じます。
