(1)It appears that success breeds success, and the world’s top retail locations are cementing their positions as global retail gateways, supporting online, wholesale, franchise and company owned retail distribution for the world’s top brands. (2)Understanding the local opportunities and defining the role of a physical store when establishing affordability of retail space is key and perhaps best illustrated by the spread in prime rents commanded among the world’s top retail destinations. Considering locations that are sought after by mainstream international retail brands as well as locations that are targeted by luxury brands, retail space in New York is the most expensive in the world, with top rents reaching up to US$37,700 per sqm a year. 一文目は、supportingの後がどう繋がるのかわかりません。 よろしくお願いいたします。

和訳をお願いします 長くなってすみません(>_<) Although the population growth rate is expected to slow down, an increasing population still creates problems. First of all, with more people in the world, more food must be grown to feed them, though the amount of land we can use for agriculture is limited. According to the FAO, grain consumption has increased by 200 percent since 1961, but the amount of farmland remains almost unchanged. Second,a growing population is harmful to the environment. With more people and increased human activities, it is natural for the amount of CO2 in the air to increase. This speeds up global warming. Scientists expect that temperatures will rise by 0.4℃ in the next 20 years. An increasing pollution brings problems not only to developing nations, but also to the whole world. If we continue on our current path, the earth's resources may disappear before we know it.

World conditions are constantly changing, and attitudes must change with them. If they do not, catastrophe is bound to follow. The attitude that is now most in need of change is the way we view the relationship of ourselves and our countries to other lands. Not long ago it was impossible to see ourselves simply as citizens of one country and we regarded all other nations as potential enemies or at least hostile rivals. Such attitudes are dangerously out of date in a world in which the weapons of military destruction have become so terrible that their full use would destroy civilization and international economic relations have become so complex and interdependent that no country can stand alone. We must see ourselves as citizens of a world community of nations which cooperate with one another for their common good. For Japan, which has become one of the economic giants of the world, these new attitudes have to include a willingness to play a much larger role in world affairs than it has in the past. This is the true meaning of internationalization and world citizenship. 特に難しい語は無かったのですが、長い文が続いたので、上手く訳し難かったです。“Such attitudes~”と“For Japan~”の箇所です。

ご協力お願いしますm(__)m When the British Prime Minister,Tony Blair, adressed the French parliament in March 1998,it wasn't so much what he said that impressed people and made news,as the language in which he said it. His performance was unusual because the British are generally felt to be not as good at foureign languages as other Europeans. Some people think this linguistic weakness is a symptom of the rest of the world to learn English:if they are willing to try to speak to us in our language, why bother learning theirs? British industrialists, however, argue that this laziness may become a disadvantage in an increasingly international economy.

Insight Ritirement was originally introduced to give people a couple of year's rest before death. But people died younger in those days:nowadays, we can expect a healthy 20 or 30 years of life after retirement. Using that time constructively is one of the personal challenges of modern society. DISENGAGEMENT THEORY The first psychological theories about retirement tended to take a rather negative position. Cummings and Henry(1961) saw retirement as a gradual process of separating off from society. Old people might be numerous, but they were less visible than younger people, and less involved in social activities. Cummings and Henry saw this as part of a natural mechanism, similar to a weakend animal withdrawing from its herd to die. Cummings and Henry put forward a biological explanation for this. They proposed that, as people grow older, there is a kind of inherited biological mechanism which encourages them, gradually, to withdraw from society. They have fulfilled their evolutionary function by bringing up families and helping their offspring to survive and now, Commings and Henry argued, evolution has no place for them. As a cosequence, they become less and less involved in social affairs, leaving decision-making and social organization to younger people and become increasingly withdrawn into their own lives.
