andの並列について質問させてください。 She immediately took off one of the sneakers and , with as much strength and she could muter up , smashed open the window nearest to her. 訳は 彼女はすぐに片方のスニーカーを脱いで、ありったけの力を振り絞って1番近くの窓をたたきわった。 とあります。 ２つ目のandは どの部分の並列してるかわかりません。 she could muster up の訳しかたもわからないですm(._.)m

she could muster up という部分に引っかかっておられるのではあるまいか、という気がします。 まず、文の形を見るために根幹だけにして簡単にすると → She immediately took off one of the sneakers and smashed open the window nearest to her. （彼女はすぐに片方のスニーカーを脱ぐや、すぐ近くにある窓を叩き割った） この and は問題ないだろうと思います。and の後ろに she が省略されています。 残りは with as much strength and she could muster up という部分ですね。この and は何なのだ？ まず with as much strength は 「ありったけの力で」 という意味。あるいは 「持てるすべての力を使って」 という感じ。 そして and she could muster up という文が来るのですが、この and の後ろにも、略されている表現があります。本当は as much strength she could muster up （彼女が奮い起こせるだけの力を奮い起こして） という文なのですが、as much strength という表現は直前で使っているので、改めて表には出していません。 そう思って with as much strength and she could muster up を見ると、「彼女は出せるだけの力と奮い起こせるだけの力をふりしぼって」 のような意味を表しているのだなと分かります。

これ疑った切りが無いですが andはasの間違いでは無いですか？ 和訳からすれば as much strength as she should muster up ですし，慣用句に近い言い回しですよね。 as much xxx as you canのやつです。 she could muster up はmuster upは 奮い立たせるといった意味がありますので，振り絞るだけ，奮い立たせられるだけたたせて，の意味で使いたいところです。andがas であれば。 ご参考までに。
