英語 ”以前”
南山大学の2014年の英語過去問で I have been working there for the five years. ( ) that I was in Hong Kong. という問題があって、選択肢にbeforeとpreviousがあって迷った結果previousにして間違えました…^_^; previousもbeforeも意味は知っていたしよく目にしてましたが２つのちゃんとした違いは知りませんでした。 去年の学校案内のときにもらった過去問で解説がなかったので質問しました。 どういうときにどちらを使うのか教えてください。

I was working there for two years. 2年間そこで働いていた。 上記の文を見つけました。for がついているので完了形にしないといけないと思ってしまいます。過去進行形、または、過去形でも for をつけて表現してもおかしくはないのでしょうか。解説をお願いします。

Before two weeksという記載をwebで見たのですが、このように beforeが期間の前に来ることがあるのでしょうか? beforeは過去の時点からさらに前の日をあらわすときに使った かと思います。 ------------------ I left my home town two years ago. I was born there 30 years before. (私は2年前に故郷を去った。その30年前に私はそこで産まれた。) ------------------ このような場合、[期間 + before]になるかと思うのですが、 どういうときに[before + 期間]で使うのでしょうか?

I am still in this city.(ほぼ同じ意味の一文に) 答は I have been in this city for five yeaｒs.です。 これは I have stayed in this city～. でも間違いにはなりませんか？ また、for five yeaｒs のところは since five years ago でもかまいませんか？ (2)helpful と useful は両方とも「役に立つ」と書いてありますが、 どのように使い分けたらよいのでしょうか。 辞書を見ても、ほぼ意味は一緒のように思えてしまいます。 解説をよろしくお願いします。

現在完了についてです。 以下の文を英語に訳して下さい。 「それは私がここへ来る前からずっとそこにあります」 私が思うに、 It has been there since before I came here. だと思うのですが。 初めは、 It has been there since I came here と思っていたのですが、「来る前からずっと」ということなので、 since ・・・・SがVする以来ずっと～ とbeforeを織り交ぜてみました。 回答よろしくお願いします。

ある参考書で、 I ( ) for three years when my son was born. 息子が産まれたとき、私はもうそこに三年間住んでいた。 とあり、答えは was living there でした。 僕はどうしても had been lived だと思うのですが、どうしてでしょうか
