アメリカに３５年半住んでいる者です。 私なりに書かせてくださいね。 ＞I had a high temperature last week.(39度が分かり ません＾ー＾；)I thought that call hear, but I was sleeping.(これなら「寝てた」ですよね…。 「寝てしまった」ではなく＾－＾；) これですが、これなかった理由としていっていると相手がわかれば「通じる」と思います. しかし、せっかくですからもっと問題なく理解してもらえるようにちょっと手直ししてみましょうね. I had a high temperature last week.ですが、私は３９度と言う必要はないと感じます. しかし、医者に聞かれた場合であれば、I had a high temperature of 39 degree last week.とはっきり単音をいう必要はあると思います. また、high temperatureですが、こちらでは「熱があった」と言うフィーリングで、I had a fever.と言い切ってしまい、「高温だった」と言う事をいいたいのであれば、I had a high fever.と言う言い方もします. 温度を示したい場合は、a high temperature of 39 degrees, a fever of 39 degrees, a high fever of 39 degreesと言う言い方をして、of 39 degreesをたせばいいのですね. しかし実際に使われるときには、このdegreesを省略していってしまう事が多いのですね. つまり, I had a high fever of 39 last week.と言う言い方ですね. I could not come because I had a high fever.と言う言い方をして、「熱を出してしまったのでこれませんでした」と言う表現ができるわけです. また、The reason I could not come was I had a high fever.と言う言い方をして、これなかった理由は熱があったからです」と言う表現もできますね. 「電話をかけようと思ったんだけど」はちょっとめんどくさいですね. でも、こう表現する事ができます. I was thinking about calling/about letting you know by phone but（電話しようと考えていたんだけど）とか I was going to call you but（電話しようとしていたんだけど） I wanted to call you but （電話したかったけど） ちょっと堅く、 I had a full intention of calling you but（電話するつもり/気持ちはあったのですが） 等の言い方ができますね. なお、call youはよくgive you a callと言う表現をします. I wanted to give you a call but,というような感じですね. 寝てしまった、ですが、これは、かけようと思っていたのに、「眠りに落ちてしまった」と言うフィーリングで英語では表現します. I fell asleep.と言う言い方をするんですね. I wanted to give a call but I fell asleep.電話したかったんだけど眠っちゃった.という感じですね. I fell asleep when I wanted to call you.と順序を変えて言う事もできますね. また、眠っちゃったという表現をより具体的に、薬を飲んでいたのでそのお陰で眠っちゃった、ということもありますね. そのような場合では、 薬が私を眠らせた、というThe medicine made me fall asleep.と言う言い方もいいですが、単に、薬を飲んだ、そして、（そのお陰で）寝ちゃった、というフィーリングで、 I took some medicine and I fell asleep. これで、took medicineがfell asleepに繋がっていると分かるわけです. つまり、寝ようとしたのではなく、眠りに落ちちゃった、わけです. fell asleepと言う言い方をして、かけなかったのは自分のせいじゃない、つまり、「眠ってしまって」と言う表現の「しまって」を出すには都合のいい表現と言う事になるわけです. なお、ご質問の中の英文のI was sleepingは電話をかけるべき時間の時にねていた、という表現になります. 結果としては同じ事を言っているのですが、「寝てしまった」と言うフィーリングが出ていないわけですね. 寝てしまった、というフィーリングをだな句とも相手には、電話する時間と寝てた時間とが同じだった、ということが分かるから、結局「通じる・分かってもらえる」事になるわけです. 通じれば後はワックスをかけるだけですね. これでいかがでしょうか。 分かりにくい点がありましたら、補足質問してください。

比較的簡単な英文のおかしいところがあればなおしてください。よろしくおねがいします。 The first day my husband and I were in Tokyo. We went to a department store and did a lot of shopping. After shopping we got on a taxi in front of the department store to return to the hotel where we stayed. After a while we arrived at the hotel. My husband paid the taxi fare to a driver and we got out of the taxi. We reached our room in the hotel. A few minutes later I found that my purse was nowhere in our room. But I immediately rememberd that I had left my purse behind the taxi. What a terrible thing it was! I wondered if I should try to call a taxi company but did'nt know which one we had used. I was very confused and at a loss what I should do. Just then the phone in our room rang. It was a call from the clerk at the front desk. He said the taxi driver had just come at the front desk to deliver my purse to me. I was very happy to hear that. I went to the front desk right away and received my purse from the driver. I thanked him from the bottom of my heart, shaking hands with him.

アメリカのネットショップで小物を予約していました。どうしても欲しくて11月から予約していたんですが今回買えませんでした。理由を相手に聞いたら返事が来たのですがすみませんが意味を教えて下さい。ほんとに悲しいです・・・ When you first asked everything was hold but I’m not 100% sure where it got miss communicated. I thought everything shipped with last shipment from here. But after receiving your email is the time I notice it didn’t shipped. I believe warehouse thought it was holding for long time and they released it.
