変な英語。分かるけど分かりにくい。call inで一つ慣用句離すのは変。 Call her inくらいなら分かるが、call her 3 days inなんて言われたら、ん？って内心思います。どういった意味で言ってるのが知らんが、英国に十数年住んでるから間違いない。 Call inで電話する(心配して待ってる人に電話するみたいニュアンス)だね。ただ電話するの意味ではあんまり使わない。専門家を招いたり呼ぶとかの意味で使うことのほうが多いと思います。

I will see you in three days. って、三日後にあなたに会うって意味ですよね。 三日のうちに会うという意味にはなりませんよね？ しかし、 in の後にJanuaryとか入ると、 1月にあなたに会う、って意味になります。 in の後に入るJanuary とthree days にどんな違いがありますか？

英語の完了形について。 完了形を勉強していて、いくつか分らないところがありました。もし英語ネイティブの方などがいたら教えてください。 １．I ( )( ) her three days ago. という問題がありました。答えは I just met her three days ago. だったのですが、 I have met her three day ago. ではなぜいけないのでしょうか？？ ２．She had been sick for three days before the doctor visited her. 高校の文法の教科書で、接続詞のbeforeやafterがあるときは過去完了は使わず過去形でいいとあったのですが、同じ教科書に上のような文が出ていました。納得がいきません… ３．ｗｈｅｎ I was in the USA, I ( ）the famous artist three times. この問題は、(1)had seen もしくは(2)sawのどちらかが（ ）に入るのですが、どちらが正いのか分りません。 詳しい方いらっしゃいましたら、よろしくお願いします。

I have a friend who I think is a snoop, though she's otherwise a very nice person. She has admitted to looking in her sister-in-law's closet when said sister-in-law was not home. I haven't actually seen her looking through my stuff, but I once found her with her hand on the doorknob of my laundry. I feel sure she was looking while I was in the bathroom. Just the other day, there was another example. I went to the bathroom, and when I came out, I heard a noise that sounded like a door closing, and she was standing in front of my pantry. Why do some people behave this way? I find it extremely annoying. If I know she's coming over, I put everything away because she is the type of person who will comment about anything that is sitting out -- be it food, mail, books, magazines, etc. ここでのsitting outはどのような意味でしょうか？よろしくお願いします

お世話になります。 I'm happy because I'm going to see her in the afternoon. これは、「午後、彼女に会う予定だからうれしい。」 「午後、彼女に会いに行く予定だからうれしい。」 どちらともとれますか？ 上は「be going to を will と同じ意味の未来形」ととり 下は「go to see her 会いに行く を進行形にして近接未来」ととったのですが、どちらも可能なのでしょうか。 また、過去形になった場合 I was happy because I was going to see her in the afternoon. 「午後、彼女に会う予定だったからうれしかった。」 「午後、彼女に会いに行く予定だったからうれしかった。」 これも可能ですか？ 可能であれば、使い分けはできないのでしょうか。 訳す人の判断でしかないのでしょうか。 よろしくお願いします。

回答ありがとうございます。 それほど長く英語を普段から実際に使っている方からして「変な英語」と言われるくらいですから、誤植か何かだと思ってしまいます。 この文は小説からの一文なのですが、作者は日本人ではないです。 その一文の状況としても、父とのロシアでの旅の中で娘がアメリカの母に電話をかけようとする場面で、特に変わったところはないようなのですが、、、
