文法について
Is there any level ― or type ― of scholarship where recipients would be required to pay nothing? この英文のwhereは文法的に何になるのでしょうか。

scholarship あるいは any level ― or type ― of scholarship を先行詞とする関係副詞です。 先行詞を it で受けたとして、 in it「それの中では」 あるいは there「そこでは」 として、後の recipients 以下が続きます。 ただ、前置詞＋関係代名詞だから関係副詞、というわけでもありません。 時・場所・理由・方法 のどれかにならないと使えません。 もちろん、where ということは場所です。 scholarship が場所なのか？ １つには level まで含めて、という考えもあるのですが、 scholarship も１つの「場」です。 situation/case のような語でも where になることがあるのはよく知られています。 house/table のような「物」にすぎないものだって、前置詞がつけば場所になるので、 scholarship だって同じだと言えます。

関係副詞の制限用法だと思います （今辞書を見たら、そう出ていました）。 先行詞は any level or type of scholarship です。where だから先行詞は 「場所」 を示す名詞のはずなのに、という疑問を持たれたのかもしれないですが、こういう使い方もあります。「scholarship というものにおいて」 と、scholarship という 「もの」 がそこにあって、ある 「場所」 を占めているかのような感覚で扱っているわけです。

英語の問題です。 参考書に下記の英文が載っていました。 ○大地震がいつどこで起こるかは予測不可能だ。 it is impossible to predict where and when there will be a major earthquake. また、同じ参考書に ○ウィスキーのボトルを2本も空けて車を運転するのは危険だ。 it would be dangerous to drink two bottles of whiskey and drive a car. という英文があります。この英文の説明では「ウィスキーのボトルを2本も空けて車を運転する」のは普通はありえないので仮定法を用いてit is dangerousではなくit would be dangerousにするとあります。 それなら、最初に挙げた英文でも大地震がどこでいつ起こるかの予測は普通出来ないのでit would be impossible～になるのではないかと思うのですが、それでは間違いなのでしょうか？

現在、基本契約書の和訳をやっておりますが、どうしてもうまくいきません。 以下、to which it is 、becomes subject 以降は、前述の any contract～の説明（どんな契約、義務etcか）でしょうか。どこにかかるのか、わからなくなってしまいました。また、is threatened against の主語は、actionでしょうか。 アドバイス頂けたら助かります。 Performance of this Agreement will not violate the terms of any contract, obiligation, law, regulation,ordinance to which it is or becomes subject;(ii)no claim, lien or action exists or is threatened agaist Seller that would interfere with Buyer's use or sale of the Products.
