英語の訳と構文について教えて下さい。
Amidst a vast stretch of orange groves, a man set out to create a world, separating the waters and dry lands by mountains, rivers, forests,and jungles. という一文なのですが、私はこの文を 広大なオレンジの木々が伸びるまっただ中に、男は、山、川、森、海そしてジャングルによって水と陸地に分ける世界を作り出そうと試みた。 と訳してみました。ここでよくわからないのが、（separating）の場所が分詞構文であると思うのですが何が省略されているのか分かる人いませんか？ 私の訳では(when he)と入れてみました。 どなたか教えて下さい。

「付帯状況」とか言われる分詞構文の使い方だと思います。 補って捉えるとすれば、when ではなくて、while でしょうね。 a man set out to create a world and, while he was doing so, he separated the waters ・・・・ という感じだと思いますが。 --

while he is separating ... ですかねぇ、あなたの考えるような構文だと。 私の理解するところでは、 by means of separating ... でもって「～によって」と訳しますが。

分詞構文といっときながら、whenはないですねごめんなさい。 そうですね、確かに by means of separating ... の方がしっくりきますね。 色々調べて考えてみたのですが、もしかしてこれは付帯状況（～して）の分詞構文ではないかと思ってきたのですが、どうでしょうか？すみません質問を重ね重ねしてしまって。 バカな奴だと思って教えて下さい。

文章の訳し方についてなのですが、 Ｈw was a doctor and was always very busy.という文があるのですが、and was～のところでwasというbe動詞があるだけで主語がないのにどうやって訳せばいいのでしょうか？是非教えてください。 また riding roller coaster was one of them.という文があるのですが、one of them の所はそれらのうちのひとつと訳すのになぜtheyではなく、themなのでしょうか？ また Ｗould you like another glass?という文章があるのですが、それはオレンジジュースを飲んでいる客に向かって、店員が言った言葉なのですが、ここでの another glass?とはどういう意味なのでしょうか？
