In this he was disappointed; never in his life had he felt less sleepy,and in a few minutes he gave up the attempt. タイトルにした「 never in his life had he felt less sleepy」の部分がよく分かりません。要するに、「この時が一番眠くなかった」んですか?他の部分は頭がこんがらがることもなく理解できるんですが、形容詞のless という語が使われると「眠いのか眠くないのか一体どっちなんだい?」と頭がこんがらがります。倒置には別にこんがらがりません。前後の文章から類推は出来るのですが、この文章そのものをサッと理解出来るいい方法はないものでしょうか? more+形容詞は理解しやすいですが、less+形容詞の表現が日本語にはないから理解しにくいのでしょうね。何かサッと理解できるようになる妙案はないでしょうか? 宜しくお願い致します。

こんばんは。 描出話法というのがいまいちピンと来ないのですが、 これは描出話法と言えるのでしょうか? What had she said? What had he expected? Going home in a taxi afterward, he pulled her over until her head rested against his chest. 最初のWhat~?What~?の部分が描出かなと思ったのですが、 これはどうなんですか? 以前から描出についての参考書の説明を読んではいるのですが、 言っていることが分かりにくいというか、イメージ しにくくて困ってます。 ただ、直接話法でも間接話法でもない、いわば中間話法的 な感じというイメージはあるのですが・・・ 分かる方いらっしゃいましたら、教えてください。
