>"The infinite variation of the motifs illustrates the vast potential inherent in the process of reduction and simplification." 「モチーフの無限の多様性が描き出すのは、捨象と単純化していく過程における、広大な可能性を持つ（捨象と単純化されても引き継がれる）固有性である。」 ----------------------------------------- イラストやデザインなどの説明だとすると、私としては納得できる感じです。仮にそうだとしまして、たとえばということで。 コミックやアニメ的な人物イラスト、さらにロゴに使われるようなマスコットキャラクターですと、非常に線の少なく、色使いも少ないため、分かりやすく覚えやすいものになります。 特に顔ですね。顔はキャラクターの特徴を決める要素として非常に重要です。そうした顔は、たとえ動物であっても擬人化されており（キティなど）、線や色の情報が少ない割に、非常に多様で、かつ本来は何なのか（キティなら猫であり人でもある）が分かります。 つまり、元になる実在のものから取捨選択や強調、デフォルメが極端なまでに行われても、原形を損なっていません。 そういうデザインは、持っている情報が少ないにも関わらず、それぞれに個性的なものが無数にありますし、今後も違ったものが幾らでも出て来るでしょう。 そうした話に出てくる一文なら、なんとなく納得しそうです。あてずっぽうですみません。

「モチーフ の 無限な バリエーション は、単純化及び 簡略化における プロセス 固有の、膨大な可能性 を例示し ます。 」 この文では「illustrates」が全体の動詞になると思います。 一つ一つの単語にたくさん意味があってわかりにくいと思いますが、もし前後に他の文があれば文脈で読み取るしかないと思います。 ご参考まで。

ありがとうございます。文脈ですか。本の最後の文がこれだったんですよね。一応言いたい事は微妙に分かりつつもはっきり伝わってこなかったので観念してここで聞く事にしました・・・。（汗）英語って難しいですね！
