What do Sherlock Holmes and Albert Einstein have in common? Both were extraordinary thinkers, one a fictional genius, the other a real genius. And both were amateur violinists. The link between these aspects is significant. When either man got really stuck in his problem solving, he would turn to same solution : playing the violin. A typical scene in the detective novel finds Dr. Watson, the loyal assistant, walking up the stairs -knowing, from the wild violin sounds he hears, that the great Sherlock Holmes's power to solve problem being severely by the case he is working on. A typical scene in the detective novel 「finds」 Dr. Watson, the loyal assistant, walking up the stairs「-」 のfindsと-についてです。

A typical scene finds Dr. Watson walking up the stairs -knowing that the great Sherlock Holmes's power being severely【challenged?】 by the case. A dash is a straight, horizontal line used in writing, for example to separate two main clauses whose meanings are closely connected.

The 18th century saw the American Revolution.

What do Sherlock Holmes and Albert Einstein have in common? Both were extraordinary thinkers, one a fictional genius, the other a real genius curious, original, and brilliant. And both were amateur violinists. The link between these aspects is significant. When either man got really stuck in his problem solving, he would turn to the same solution: playing the violin. ally is not atrish A typical scene in the detective novel finds Dr. Watson, the loyal assistant, walking up the stairs-knowing, from the wild violin sounds he hears, that the great Sherlock Holmes's powers to solve problems are being severely tested by the case he is working on. Holmes apparently trusted the process of logical deduction, but he trusted another process, too -the act of music making. The two processes worked together somehow, each helping the other in a way that the author of the stories hints at but doesn't attempt to define. Einstein also found a way to aid his thinking through violin playing. He may not have been an especially skilled violinist, but that is clearly not important. "Whenever he felt that he had come to the end of the road or into a difficult situation in his work," his elder son has said, "he would engage in music, and that would usually resolve all his difficulties." Musical forms, beauty, and patterns took both these geniuses' minds beyond conventional thinking into an advanced type of thought. In both relaxed their result-focused minds somehow, allowing their cases subconscious minds to guide them-and playing music provided this link between conscious and subconscious. In short, they solved real-world problems by losing themselves in music, specifically in the violin. I would guess that Einstein was not a cautious player, either. He attributed his scientific creativity directly to this quality of childlike curiosity.

和訳お願いしますm(__)m ladies and Gentlemen: Dream analysis is the central problem of the analytical treatment, because it is the most important technical means of opening up an avenue to the unconscious. The main object in this treatment, as you know, is to get at the message of the unconscious. The patient comes to the analyst usually because he finds himself in an impasse or cul-de-sac,where there seems to be no way out,and he assumes that the doctor will know a way. If the doctor is honest,he recognizes that he also does not know the way. But doctors sometimes are not:only one hundred and fifty years ago, doctors were those quacks who went to fairs and pulled out teeth, performed marvellous cures, etc. ,and this attitude still prevails to a certain extent in the medical profession at the present day---human beings are everywhere bad! In analysis we must be very careful not to assume that we know all about the patient or that we know the way out of his difficulties. If the doctor tells him what he thinks the trouble may be,he follows the doctor's suggestions and does not experience himself. Suggestions may work for a time, but when he is away the patient collapses because he has no contact with himself and is living not his own way but the doctor's way. Then he has to return to the doctor for new suggestions, and after a while this becomes disgusting to both. It is important that the doctor admits he does not know;then both are ready to accept the impartial facts of nature, scientific realities. Personal opinions are more or less arbitrary judgments and may be all wrong; we are never sure of being right. Therefore we should seek the facts provided by dreams. Dreams are objective facts. They do not answer our expectations, and we have not invented them;if one intends to dream of certain things, one finds it impossible. We dream of our questions, our difficulties. There is a saying.
