(1) Do you have (any idea) where (can I find→I can find) a Chinese restaurant (around) here? (2) A photographer (had been) (hiring→hired)(to take) pictures of the awards ceremony. (3) Jack gave (up)(to smoke→smoking)(for fear)( of ruining) his health. ☆ give up ~ing の様に、give up の後は動名詞。 (4) (Many) people (believed) that a good college experience means (getting) an education, making friends and (prepare→preparing) for a career. ☆ means の目的語に、getting .../making .../and/preparing ...

(1)Do you have any idea where (I can find) a Chinese restaurant around here? (2)A photographer had been (hired) to take pictures of the awards ceremony. (3)Jack gave up (smoking) for fear of ruining his health. (4)Many people believed that a good college experience means getting an education, making friends and (preparing) for a career.

Technology, in particular, is as much a driver of change in education today as it is in the global economy in general. This diversity in college experiences has the great advantage of allowing students from many different backgrounds to pursue a college education in a setting that they find suitable for their individual success.

For example, one of the major differences between the American educational system and systems in a majority of other countries is that education in the United States is intended for everyone-not just for a privileged few. Schools are expected to meet the needs of every child, regardless of his or her ability, and also the needs of society itself. This means that tax-supported public schools offer more than academic subjects. It surprises many people when they come here to find high schools offering such courses as typing, sewing, radio repair, computer programming, or driver training, along with traditional academic subjects such as mathematics, history, and language. Students can choose among a great variety of subjects depending on their interests, future plans, and level of ability. The primary purposes of American education are to develop every child's abilities, however great or small these may be, and to give each child a sense of citizenship.
