1だけですが 日本ではあまりなじみがありませんが、欧米諸国にはさまざまな基金fundが存在し、社会の役にたっています。日本人にも馴染み深いものでいえば、ノーベル財団などがあるでしょう。 このような基金（財団法人）は必要に応じて作られるものもあり、芸術支援の基金などは後ろに企業などが付いている場合も結構あります。そのため、このような基金は企業の経営姿勢などに影響を受けます。 今回ＢＰが拠出した「200億ドルの基金」はメキシコ湾での原油流出事故に関わる損害や対策に使われるものだと思いますが、これをＢＰは基金の拠出だけで、お金の使い道などの運営は「完全に独立した組織」の裁量に任せる、というニュースだったはずです。 つまりＢＰとしては「お金は出すが口を出さない」という責任の取り方を示唆しているわけで、このような場合、組織が independent であるかどうかはとても重要な意味を持ちます。 ですから日本語であれば「独立した（組織が運営する）基金」というのがいいのだと思いますが、日本にはそのような（どのようなものでも）基金を作って対応する、ということがあまりなくなじみが無いこと、また時事英語に挑戦という観点からも訳が省かれたのだと思います。

訳語について教えていただきたいのですが、 independent scholar は何かすでに決まった訳語がありますでしょうか？ 独立研究者、在野の研究者、など言い方はいくつかあるかと思うのですが、 新聞などで表記する際independent scholar をどう訳しているのか 知っていたら教えてもらえると嬉しいです。

質問事項 こんにちは 下記の文章の解釈をしていますが 筋肉にdependentとindependentという形容詞がついた場合 なんというのが適切なのでしょうか。。 Muscle perfusion is compromised by high intra-pressure in dependent muscles and hydrostatic pressure in non-dependent muscles. 筋肉の血管灌流量は、XX筋の高い筋内圧とXX筋の静水圧により一層損なわれることになる。 自分では従属筋と非従属筋かとも思ったのですが、検索してもヒットしないので、違う気がします。 宜しくお願い致します。

単に、"independent of～" だと、「～から独立した」という意味ですが、"an independent organization of ～" というようにindependentの後に名詞が続くときも、「～から独立した組織」という意味になりますか？ それとも、名詞が続くとindependent of～のイディオムではなくなり、単に「～の独立組織」となるのでしようか。 文脈によりけりでしょうか？ よろしくお願いします。
