I am surprised to find that so many people look upon 88 as being old. 88歳以上の人が多くいて驚いた という訳でいいですか？ 講座の課題ですが、テーマが一切わからないので88が年齢でいいのか迷ってます。

88を、年をとっているとみなす人がとても多いと知って驚いた。 この日本語から感じられる通り、年齢を表しています。 その点は日本語と同じですが、at six とか、it's six で時刻を表す点などは異なります。 look on A as B で「A を B とみなす」です。 upon はまあ on と同じようなもので、しばしば代わりに用いられます。
