いつもお世話になってます。 最近、ネットで英語でe-mailを交換する相手を見つけました。 そこで、「寒いから、風邪引いてない？」という意味で「It is cold.Don't you have a cold?」と書きました。そうしたら、Don't you have a cold?よりもIs it cold?の方が正しいよ、と相手に言われました。 私の本意が伝わらなかったのでしょうか。 「風邪引いてない？」というのは、どういう形で伝えれば良かったのでしょうか。 Don't you catch a cold?が良かったのでしょうか。

These are examples of stories about patients AS described in his book. ASは「ここだよ」と強調するために大文字で書きました。実際はasです。 文意としては、「これらは彼の著書の中で述べられている患者たちに関する話の例である」でしょうか、前後関係からすると、「これらは彼の著書の中に記述されている患者たちに関する一例である」というような感じです。 それで、ここのasなんですが、働きとしてはどういうものになるのでしたっけ？ examples…which are described in his bookのwhich areに相当すると考えればよいのでしたでしょうか？ あえて説明せよといわれると、いい加減な説明もできないもので、どうかご教示お願いします。
