verbal とは「言葉の」という意味で、highly verbal というとちょっと難しい概念ですが言葉 (words) を使って物事を考えるくせの人を表現すると考えられます。日本語で俗に言うとよくしゃべる人となるかもわかりません。 その逆の姿勢としては画像や動きで考える人というのがあると考えられます。あまり口に出してしゃべらないが頭の中で立体画像を自在に動かせる能力の人ですね。

初めての投稿です。 先日ボランティアに参加しニュージーランドに行ってきました。そこで、スーパーのレジの人や滞在先のモーテルの管理人さん、お土産やさんなど、みなさん「hello! how are you～」と必ず言ってきました。 自分が以前滞在していたところ(大学の交換留学などで半年ほど海外に滞在していたので、英語は出来ないですがニュアンスなどはなんとなくわかるつもりでいました。)では、お店の人などがhelloは言ってもhow are you?を続けて言うことはほぼほぼなかったので、日本で習ったというか留学時の使い方としては「調子どう～？」という意味だと思い、great! thank you:) and you?と聞き直したところ、みなさん8割がた返事が返ってくると思わなかったような表情をしていたり、「?」という顔をされました。(2割は good! thank you!などという返事が返ってきました) ニュージーランドのお店の人や接客をする人が言うhow are you?は調子どう？という意味ではないんでしょうか？ ネイティブの方は、それに対してどのような返事をするものなんでしょうか。 (hello! how are you～？といわれて、helloだけっていうのも失礼だよなぁとぼんやり考えていました。)
