詩的表現と散文
以下は歌詞の一部です 1 if it's not love 2 then it's the bomb 3 that will bring us together 訳の大意は「もし僕らを結びつけるのが愛じゃないならそれは爆弾だ」 散文の場合 この１２３の順序でならべて大丈夫ですか？ ぼくには読み下して理解するのは 難しく感じるのですが 人によってはそうでもないんですかね？

＃１の greeen です。 読み返してみると、ちょっと違う感じがしましたので、追加させて下さいね。 ＞It's the bomb that will bring us together, not love. これだと、not love を強調している感じでしょうね。 基本的には the bomb の方が強調構文で強調されていますから、not love は確認という感じですね。not love をどのくらい強く読むかで感じは違ってくるとは思いますが。 失礼しました。お役に立てば幸いです。

こんにちは。 ＞1 if it's not love 2 then it's the bomb 3 that will bring us together 私は英語で詩を書いたり読んだりしますが、この英文が特に詩らしいとは感じません。ちょっときれいでカッコイイ言い方だなあとは感じます。 ずばり淡々と断定する感じだと、 It's not love but the bomb that will bring us together. となるでしょうね。完全な散文で書き言葉という感じですね。 It's the bomb, not love that will bring us together. では、ちょっとリズムが壊れる感じですね。やや、会話口調でしょうか。 また、 It's not love that will bring us together, but the bomb. とすると、なんだか政治的な響きがします。the bomb を強調している感じですね。名詞で終わっていますから、余韻が残る感じですね。 It's the bomb that will bring us together, not love. これだと、not love を強調している感じでしょうね。 If it's not love then it's the bomb that will bring us together. は、一番最初の表現を if not A, then B. というように数学的に変えているだけだと感じます。ですが、if とか then を使っていて文も少し長くなりますから、やや和らいだ感じがします。でも、説得力は確かに増している感じがします。一番大事なのは、リズムが出てきているということでしょうね。 お役に立てば幸いです。

よろしくお願いいたします。 Back Street Boys の 『More Than that』という曲の以下の歌詞について伺いたいです。 「I will love you more than that I won'tsay the words Then take them back」 の部分の訳が 「僕ならもっと君を愛せるよ 一度口に出して言ったことは絶対に守るから」 という風になっていました。 この場合、"Then"はどのように使われているのでしょうか。 私の解釈では、thenを「～ならば」みたいに考えて直訳風にすると 「言った言葉を取り消すのならそんな言葉は言わない」 と訳されるのかなあと考えてます。 しかしながらthenを辞書で調べても、そんな使い方は載っていません。 みなさんはどのようにこの"then"を考えますでしょうか。 教えていただきたいです。よろしくお願いします。
