以前に翻訳を仕事としていたことのある者です。 １．英字新聞の見出しでは、普通be動詞が省略されることになっています（参考：http://www.two-para.com/kotsu.html、http://club.japantimes.co.jp/special/jt/）。また、黒人標準英語ではbe動詞が省略されるそうです（参考：http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%BB%92%E4%BA%BA%E8%8B%B1%E8%AA%9E） ２．会話では普通 don't (aren't doesn't wasn'tなど)が使われますね。敢えて否定の意志を強調したいときにnotが使われるいう気がします。 http://oshiete1.goo.ne.jp/qa418677.html

「私」を表す英語は、なぜ、i でなく大文字のＩなのでしょうか？ なぜ、主語のＩに限って is 出なくam なのでしょうか？ 主語がyou の場合、なぜ複数も単数もare なのでしょうか？ その言葉の背景みたいなものが知りたいのですが、お願いします。

中学の問題で、二つあります。 (1)英訳の問題で、「私のかばんには何も入っていません」を自分は There is nothing in my bag. としたのですが、 模範解答は、There isn't anything in my bag. となっていました。 私の答えでは不正解でしょうか。 (2)There are not any pictures on the wall.(no を用いてほぼ同じ意味の文に) という問題です。 自分は There is no picture on the wall. としたのですが、 模範解答は There are no pictures on the wall. と複数形のままでした。 この場合自分の解答では不正解になるのでしょうか。その場合は理由も教えていただけると助かります。 お願いします。

There is(are)～「～がある」の場合 There is a book.は thereが形式上の主語、a bookが意味上の主語となります Here is ( are ) ～「ここに～がありますよ」の場合も Ｈere is a book.は hereが形式上の主語、a bookが意味上の主語になっているのでしょうか？ Here is ( are ) ～「ここに～がありますよ」の文の構造がよくわかりません
