twice as .. as のセンテンスについて
本のプライスは、日本で買う２倍だった というセンテンスを書きたいのですが、 However the book prices were twice as high prices as in Japan. However the book price were as high as prices in Japan. どちらが、 as high price as as high as prices 正しいでしょうか？ 少し、頭の中が混乱してきて しまいました （＾＾；；。。 よろしくお願いします。

こんにちは。 いくつか言い方はありますが、 twice as ... as を使ってという事でしょうか？ However the book price were as high as prices in Japan. 語順的には、こちらがよいと思います。 ただ、priceが繰り返しになるので、that やoneに変えた方が良いと思います。あと最初のpriceが単数なのでwasになります。 その本屋にある複数の本の値段だったら、 The price of the books there was twice as high as that in Japan. でよいかなぁと思います。 または、 Buying books here costs me twice as much as it does in Japan. という言い方もあります。

比較の倍数表現なんですが、例えば、「この本はあの本よりも２倍厚い」と言うときは、 This book is twice as thick as that one. のようにしますが、「この本はあの本よりも１.５倍厚い」と言う場合は、 This book is half as thick again as that one. とするように習いました。ですが、なぜこのようにhalfやagainを使うのでしょうか？理由を教えてください、お願いします！
