日本語に訳してください!

何度もすみません!読解方法に関する文章の、“Finding details”というパートのなかの文章です。訳してください!(多少、内容がかわってもかまいません) A paragraph would be dull and boring if it consists only of a main idea. What makes reading interesting is the way writers support their main ideas by providing logical explanation, and by giving evidence to support their main thought. Key words,examples, or details are used to expand the topic. 自分で一応訳してみたのですが変なので。。。 もしパラグラフがテーマ(主旨)だけで成り立っていたなら、単調で退屈であるだろう。筆者が、どのようにそのテーマを支えるために論理的説明を加えたり証拠をあげたりするかが読解をおもしろくする。キーワード、例、又は詳細内容などが主題を拡張する。

>自分で一応訳してみたのですが変なので。。。  いや、そんなことないです。よくできてますよ! 文意も合ってますし。  あえて言うなら(注・「あえて」ですからね(^^))、最初の文の「paragraph」は、ここでは「段落」よりも「記事」とか「文章」に意訳するのがよいのかもしれません。「dull」は「味気ない」とか「素っ気ない」とかでもよいと思います。「consists only of~」は、「~のみからなる」と訳せば格調高い文になるように感じます(←そう思うのは私だけだったりして)。  また、2番目の文章は、「their main ideas」に 「by providing~」と「by giving evidence~」との2つが係っていると思います。「どのように」は位置が変で、「論理的説明を」の前に持ってきた方が自然な日本語になります。  あと、最後の「expand」は、「展開」の方が適切かなあ。  で、文語調に書くなら、  「文章が仮に主旨のみからなるものであるなら、単調で味気ないものとなるであろう」「論理的説明を加えることや、自身の見解を支持する証拠(というより資料と意訳した方がよいかな?)をあげたりすることによって筆者が自分の主旨を支持することが、読解を面白くする」「キーワードや例、詳細内容によって主題が展開される」  ということろでしょうか。  こうして書くと文が変わっているようですが、そんなことはありません。文意は同じです。私は意訳を入れてますし、また、どの言葉を使うかは個人の好みです。第一、私の表現が一番適切だとも思いません。正直言って、「この訳が一番正しい!」というのはないと思います。  翻訳者でもない私ごときが偉そうに言うことではないのですが、翻訳は文意に沿っていることが大事で、表現が稚拙であるかどうかは二の次です。別質問での「you will be never left in the dark」を、あの文中で「暗闇に放置されることはありません」と訳したら意味が通じません。これが翻訳ソフトの実力です(実際にやってみたらそんな感じの文に変換してました)。  原文の言わんとするところを適切なニュアンスで訳すことは難しいですが、頑張って下さい!

どうもありがとうございました!急ぎだったので、本当にたすかりました。翻訳ってほんとに難しいですね。英語だけじゃなくて日本語の実力?も必要で。。。

私の訳です。これが正しいとかではなく、部分的にこっちの方がいいな、ここはだめだな、 と比べる一つにしてくださると良いと思います。 (訳例) もしも段落が主な主張のみでできていたら、単調で退屈なものになるだろう。 論理的な説明を加えたり主な主張を裏付ける証拠を示すことによって、 筆者がどのようにして自分の考えを裏打ちするかが、読書を面白くする。 鍵となる言葉や具体例や細部の描写が、話題をふくらませるのに使われる。 これから深読みできることは、文章が実際には単調だったり退屈だったりすることはない。 (仮定法のwould → makes reading interesting 実際には面白い) 「論理的説明や主な考えを裏付ける証拠」の具体例を挙げると、 キーワードや具体例やディーテイルである。 thoughtを積み重ねていき、evidence ができ、evidenceを集めていって idea ができる。 主な主張のみで文がつくられないように、 キーワードや具体例やディーテイルで文章を組み立てていく。 hapihapiさんのもkawarivさんのも私のも、文意は同じく捉えていると思います。 後は私が上に書いたような内容理解(論理展開と文章構造)が必要なのか、 こなれた日本語が必要なのか、という問題だと思います。 ただ訳語は趣味と文脈が大きく入るので、個人的には幅広く認められるものだと思っています。
