QA93 Two considerations help us to fix a relative date for the "Works". 1) In diction, dialect and style it is obviously dependent upon Homer, and is therefore considerably later than the "Iliad" and "Odyssey": moreover, as we have seen, it is in revolt against the romantic school, already grown decadent, and while the digamma is still living, it is obviously growing weak, and is by no means uniformly effective. (3) the digamma is still living;補正がなおも行われていて (4) it is growing weak;次第に衰退を続け (5) and is by no means uniformly effective;決して、一様には 効果的ではなかった。

Two considerations help us to fix a relative date for the "Works". (1)it is (in revolt against the romantic school,)already grown decadent, in revolt against the romantic school, について この句は it is already grown decadent already grown Decadent,とい う文があって、この間に( )の句が挿入されたものと考えられる。

2) On the other hand while tradition steadily puts the Cyclic poets at various dates from 776 B.C. downwards, it is equally consistent in regarding Homer and Hesiod as 'prehistoric'. (3)whileについて 文頭にOn the other handがある。

Today, the sari is growing in popularity as daily wear among the women of Bangladesh and SriLanka, which have climates that closely resemble that of India. Thus, many archeologists and ancient historians point out the important fact does not represent what people in other parts of the country were wearing. It is obviously no more than the Japanese reading of a Chinese word as recorded in the document.

QA120 1112 In a word, the Cyclic poems are 'written round' the "Iliad" and the "Odyssey". 3) The general structure of these epics is clearly imitative. As M.M. Croiset remark, the abusive Thersites in the "Aethiopis" is clearly copied from the Thersites of the "Iliad"; in the same poem Antilochus, slain by Memnon and avenged by Achilles, is obviously modelled on Patroclus. *Thersītēs; in Homer's Iliad, the only low-born character among the Greeks at Troy (though in post-Homeric legend said to be of good family), physically ugly and abusive of the Greek leaders. *Memnon; An Ethiopian king killed by Achilles and made immortal by Zeus. *Antilochus; in Greek myth, son of Nestor, in Homer's Iliad a brave fighter for the Greeks in the Trojan War. The Aethiopis described how he was killed defending his father against Memnon. ** M.M. Croiset;不明

QA101 Hesiod's charm lies in his child-like and sincere naivete, in his unaffected interest in and picturesque view of nature and all that happens in nature. These qualities, it is true, are those pre-eminently of the "Works and Days": the literary values of the "Theogony" are of a more technical character, skill in ordering and disposing long lists of names, sure judgment in seasoning a monotonous subject with marvellous incidents or episodes, and no mean imagination in depicting the awful, as is shown in the description of Tartarus (ll. 736-745). (1)sincere naivete, in his unaffected interestについて 純粋な無邪気/でよいでしょうか (2)sincere naivete, in his unaffected interestについて 途中に‘,’があります。 (3)are those pre-eminentlyについて areとthoseは倒置とみて、those areで良いでしょうか。 (4)are pre-eminently of the WDについて 「これらが『仕事と日々』の中で傑出している」で良いでしょうか。 (5)a disposing long lists of namesについて 「名前の長い羅列を秩序立てた」でよいでしょうか (6)is shown in the descriptionについて 「タルタロスについての記述で明らかなように」でよいでしょうか *タルタロスに関する文;松平千秋訳 ‘as is shown in the description of Tartarus (ll. 736-745).’

It is highly probable that these poems were interpolations into the "Catalogues" expanded by later poets from more summary notices in the genuine Hesiodic work and subsequently detached from their contexts and treated as independent. (3)these poems were interpolations into the "Catalogues"について この文から、these poemsは“Catalogue”より遅く書かれたこと、 “Catalogue”は原作の後に書き込まれ、編集されたこと このような意味になるでしょうか。

QA86 The "supplement" (ll. 57-480) is nominally Heracles and Cycnus, but the greater part is taken up with an inferior description of the shield of Heracles, in imitation of the Homeric shield of Achilles ("Iliad" xviii. 478 ff.). Nothing shows more clearly the collapse of the principles of the Hesiodic school than this ultimate servile dependence upon Homeric models. (2)Nothing shows more clearly the collapse……. *Cycnus, In Greek mythology, four people were known as Cycnus or Cygnus. Most of them ended up being transformed into swans. The most famous Cycnus however, was the son of Ares. *"Iliad" xviii.

QA91 The remaining poem, the "Melampodia", was a work in three books, whose plan it is impossible to recover. Its subject, however, seems to have been the histories of famous seers like Mopsus, Calchas, and Teiresias, and it probably took its name from Melampus, the most famous of them all. (1)whose plan it is impossible to recover について plan=rendering(完成予想図);元の完成の状態に修復する意味か the free Dictionary.com (2)took its nameについて 今は“the great Eoiae”の‘the title’(QA88)の由来について述べている のかもしれない。 *Melampus In Greek Mythology, Melampus, or Melampous (Greek: Μέλαμπος),[1] was a legendary soothsayer and healer originally of Pylos, who ruled at Argos; he was the introducer of the worship of Dionysus, ・・.
